Espn is reporting that Jim Tressel has just resigned as Headcoach of Ohio State University. With BSU, USC, Auburn and now ohio st. all facing or have faced some form of ncaa violations, how could this change the college landscape?
I suspect things are about to get real ugly for OSU. Tressel was either asked to resign to lessen the blow from the NCAA hammer, or he knows that OSU is about to get hit hard and decided to abandon ship.
FWIW From what I've heard hear in Pittsburgh, he was forced out by OSU's President.
I see a USC type sanctions for OSU when its over with. With things going the way they are, could this previous decade resemble the same decade that saw the SWC disolve? Just stiring the pot here because I'm bored.

But...I thought he would never...AH! He never "fired" Tressel! But really, he did. So the President lied, too.

This is wonderful. 03-lmfao
With all the news rolling in, the Buckeyes had no choice but to force Tressel out the door. But I think they may have waited too long. Their role in this mess has made them just as guilty as Tressel...
I'm pretty sure you can get a good deal on sweater-vests in central Ohio right about now...

Yea, no doubt.. I think OSU will be looking for a new AD when this is all said and done. Hell, I'd remove the President and completely clean house.
Wonder where their next coach comes from? This late in the game, I bet they won't replace hime till after the season is over.
The DC will be interim for the entire season.

Can't see an outsider wanting to coach there until they see what the NCAA does.
I hope they get the death penalty. They deserve it.

I think you're right Knightsweat. This is about to get REALLY interesting.

I wasn't a big fan of E. Gorden Gee when he was at WVU. He didn't change my mind any when he was at Vandy. This just proves I was right all along...

Had to be coming. He hired a high profile attorney that handled the Cam Newton Auburn mess a few weeks ago. Must have been to negotiate a golden parachute package to take a hike if the mess he covered up kept getting worse and more bad info kept coming out like it has. 04-jawdrop 04-jawdrop 04-jawdrop 03-melodramatic 03-melodramatic 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot04-cheers
Boy did Nebraska made the right move at the right time joining Big 10. Nobody is in their way to win a Big10 title right now.
A fittingly disgraceful end to a shady career.
Those players should be ashamed of themselves. Their greed has cost them their coach, eligibility, and their school. What a bunch of scumbags. I really dislike Ohio State, but I understand why Tressel would want to protect his players.

Five bucks says the players that are to sit out five games for violations never set foot in the horse again.
This would be a lot easier if I believed Tressel was even in the top 50% of major coaches as far as ignoring rule breaking. Oh well...

Thank you Coach Tressel for 10 excellent years.
