Kay Montana, the mother at the center of this controversy, took to TikTok to share her daughter Nyla’s unsettling experience at a Pittsburgh public school.

Montana says Nyla was unexpectedly pulled out of class and instructed to register to vote, despite being under 18.

The incident took an even more troubling turn when Nyla reported that school staff allegedly pushed a specific political agenda during the registration process.

In a text conversation with her mother, Nyla claimed that a female staff member told her “it would be bad if I picked Trump because of what he was doing to the Mexicans and stuff.”

Nyla, who turns 18 on October 5th, further alleged that the staff member made alarming statements about the potential consequences of the upcoming election.

According to the teen, she was told that “black people are doomed and are going to be finished if they let Trump back in.”

Montana expressed her frustration with the school’s actions, stating, “I am her mother, and I have yet to have this conversation with her about the upcoming election.”

“I have not signed any consent forms allowing my daughter to register to vote at school.”

Seeking answers, Montana confronted school staff about the incident.

In a recorded conversation, a staff member identified as a “Minority Inspector” denied telling Nyla that voting was mandatory but admitted to calling her down to register.

The staff member also denied making statements about Black people being “doomed” if Trump were elected.

When Nyla joined the conversation, however, she contradicted the staff member’s account.

“I don’t understand why the conversation even happened,” Montana told the staff member.

“What consent forms did I sign saying I was okay with my daughter being registered to vote in school? She’s still 17 years old.”

Nyla maintained that she felt pressured to register and confirmed that the staff member had indeed made the controversial statement about Trump’s potential impact on black people.

The school staff member offered an apology for registering Nyla without parental consent but stopped short of admitting to the alleged political statements.

“I apologize if you feel like you were pressured,” the staff member said.

“I apologize for registering your daughter to vote without your consent, without you having the opportunity to have a conversation with her or even check anything online.”

“All I can say right now is I apologize.”

Montana remained unsatisfied with the response and announced her intention to contact news outlets and the Board of Education.

Montana expressed her disappointment with the school administration’s handling of the situation, noting that the principal was present during the confrontation but remained silent throughout.

Growing up, my school registered us to vote and sign up for the selective service on our 18th birthday. It was a private school though.

Eh...if your kid is about to turn 18, its not illegal for them to register to vote.

Should the schools be pressuring them to vote a certain way, no, but thats the public school system in a big city...if you go there you know what you are going to get
