RE: UAC FOOTBALL WEEK #2
Utah is beating Baylor about as bad as they beat Southern Utah through the first quarter.

RE: UAC FOOTBALL WEEK #2
Baylor is only slightly improved from last year, meaning they are not very good at all. ( Which does not bode well for Tarleton) They may beat Houston and Tx Tech but I do not think they have a chance against anyone else this year, so a 3 win Campaign is probably their ceiling. They should have fired both their coach and athletic Director, but they chose to save some money instead. Aranda just might get fired tomorrow depending on how ugly the game gets. The confidence in him all around from the fan base to the administration was already low entering the year and now it will only get worse. Traylor and Kinne from UTSA and Tx State are the favorites to replace Aranda.

Couple of things to keep in mind with the Baylor debacle: For one, Tarleton had the most incapable QB I've ever seen at the D1 level starting the game. And B., Baylor benefitted greatly from Mason Miller, our OC & Asst HC last year, knowing exactly what Whitten was gonna do and when he was gonna do it. Knowing this, Whitten kept it even more vanilla than his usual vanilla-self, which is uber vanilla.

Baylor would have won even if we had Gabablis, we just would have made the score a little more respectable and scored 17 or 20 points instead of 3. MM made a mistake going to Baylor, the Coach/coaching staff are all going be looking for new jobs by the end of the season, maybe sooner. Baylor peeps were already furious that Aranda returned.

Good coaching staffs have always figured out Whittens scheme. Mason Miller didn’t help Baylor one lick. It’s the simplest offense on the planet. Fill the box, press the receivers, game over. Tarleton only excels against overmatched teams. 10 -12 years of examples can prove that. Competent teams and staffs stifle us. I can’t believe anyone even tries to argue against this.
This is why 8-4, 9-3( no playoffs) will always be our ceiling.
Well that, and a really bad defense.
I’m hoping for a blowout today, but I’m expecting a dogfight with lowly Houston Christian.

Just to continue the dog piling of the Whitten offense, how many others teams run it? I don’t know of any.

It's Art Briles' offense from his Baylor days. Dubbed the Veer & Shoot. TCU runs a version of it.

Greek managed the game well. Wasn’t allowed to do much but he didn’t hurt the team and proved he was capable. Only one real hiccup.
If the Texans can keep improving on this we will be in the playoffs.
Let me reiterate only if Greek or Gabalis are at the QB position.
All bets are off if Pete reassumes the QB job.
My hope is Pete needs some seasoning and a lot of practice reps for next year.

It's a road win, but once again, Whitten takes his foot off the gas and allowed HCU to make it look somewhat respectable. From now on his name is Lightfoot. Todd Lightfoot Whitten.

Gabalis is our best QB.
We also still need a kicker.

ACU 38 West Georgia 24 and the Wildcats fumbled three times for no reason. We played a pretty weak game. Warning, their second-string QB who wears number 8 is a very strong player, fast and shifty plus can throw well. Glad he did not start.
