I’ve got the Blazers starting 2-0, ultimately finishing 7-5

Whatchu think?

I have a feeling we really see which way this Dilfer experiment goes this season. I think it’ll be a 4-8 type season (again) or a 8-4/9-3 type season. I’m leaning towards the latter, I like a lot of what Dilfer says and he’s brought in some good players.

About the only results I’m fairly confident in predicting is a win against Alcorn and losses to Arkansas and Memphis. The other 9 games could go either way.

I think Alcorn is a lot better than the NC A&T team that both lines of scrimmage failed to establish dominance over last year. I’m going to cheat and reserve making a prediction until the end of the first quarter Thursday.

I think we are going 5-7 this year. Some of Dilfer’s comments about the defense have me nervous. We had a ton of holes last year, and although we have seemingly addressed most, it doesn’t normally just all come together that easily. I think a lot of us are setting ourselves up for disappointment with the perceived easy schedule. We were not a good team last year, and there were numerous things that needed a complete overhaul. I am looking to see our weaknesses addressed on the field and a team that appears to be headed in the right direction. If we are still getting gashed weekly, I have huge concerns about this staff.

I think 6-6 is the baseline for most fans.
5-7 won't make folks happy, but if it's close losses without dumb penalties and calls, and the defense is improved, then maybe it'll be a bitter pill to swallow. But 5-7 or 4-8 with no improvement on defense and more Navy, GSU, and Louisiana type losses and he better not unpack until the end of the 2025 season.

Gotta give a coach three to 4 years to get his guys fully in that fit his system. At three years you see what you're getting. At four years, calls gotta be made.

Yeah, I hear ya 9911…but I will say that there is no subjective input (on my part) in my predictions. I use a formula and go with what my numbers say. I frankly expected it to come out 6-6, but it came out 7-5.

Like Rook said, there’s a world where we’re 5-7 and I could be content, if I’m able to point to improvement and n some key areas

On the flip side of this, there is a world where we got 7-5 and I’m not content. This offense could single handily win some games this season, no doubt. So if we wind up on the right side of some of those high scoring affairs, but our defense and special teams are still a disaster, I’m not going to be happy.

I’m going to say 6-6, but the fan in me wants to say 7 or 8 wins.

I'll sick by my 6-6 with a low of 5-7 and a high of who knows? I do believe the defense has improved but not where anyone including the staff wants it to be but it should not be the sieve it was. I believe special teams to be improved. Offense is loaded. My expectation is a bowl game.

We have to stay relatively healthy on offense and we cannot afford big time injuries on defense. LB just doesn't have enough quality depth IMHO. I will cheer every time we put a kickoff in the end zone.
