This goes on team expectations and results.....

1) Mark Richt, Georgia - UGA fans wanted the East, he got it for them in dominating fashion. Didn't make the time mistakes like last year. Team was solid and prepared most every week.

2) Guy Morriss, Kentucky - Anyone who objects to this ranking, let me ask you this... how many of you thought UK was gonna go 7-5 this year, much less at or better than .500?

3) Dennis Franchione, Alabama - Team had nothing to play for, and he inspired them and made them hell to play every week. Was #2, but the Iron Bowl fiasco dropped him a notch.

4) Houston Nutt, Arkansas - Dealt with Hamlin, dealt with Cobbs, overcame injuries and the loss of their team captain. Won the West by winning their last 6, including 3 on the road in the SEC. Last second win on LSU was incredible.

5) Ron Zook, Florida - Faced pressure and criticism at the start, but got the Gators to 8-4. Wins over Tennessee and Georgia were very impressive to say the least. Only problem...Grossman had trouble with new offense.

6) Tommy Tuberville, Auburn - Faced high expectations, lost Cadillac again, but unlike last year, the team rallied instead of folded, and finished 8-4. That and a win over Bama should have Tuberville comfortable for now.

7) Nick Saban, LSU - 34 seconds.... all it took. Saban had great wins over Florida and Kentucky...but struggled in the end. The Tigers controlled their own destiny, and lost 2 of their last 3, the only win being by 1 point.

8) Phil Fulmer, Tennessee - Ouch. This one goes to injuries, so it's not all his fault, but expectations were high, and the Vols finished much lower. A tough season for the orange faithful.

9) David Cutcliffe, Ole Miss - Got em in a bowl this year, but he needs to find a running game and FAST, or the Rebel fans will be calling for his head...some already are.

10) Lou Holtz, South Carolina - Us HOG fans know Lou's style... 2 good years, 2 sorry years. The Gamecocks were young and never seemed to gel under Holtz. Expect more of the same next year, folks.

11) Bobby Johnson, Vanderbilt - a 2-9 season is what Vandy expects, and they got it. Johnson is at least trying to get the ship turned...just has no talent whatsoever.

12) Jackie Sherrill, Miss. State - goes 0 fer 8 like Vandy, but they have far more talent than the Commodores. Sherrill should step aside for new blood.

Going by expectations. . .(the reasons may sound rather similar in places)

1-Morriss: He made something out of nothing.

2-Franchione: Many people thought Bama would tank under the punishment.

3-Richt: He did what was expected. People knew Florida would be down and he capitalized by taking UT's supposed shoe-in East Title.

4-Nutt: Salvaged what should've been a crippling early season stumbling on and off the field to win the West.

5-Tuberville: Read above and subtract the West Title. Most of the cripplings for Auburn were injury related however (not that it makes too big a difference).

6-Zook: Took his expected lumps and managed to knock off the best of the SEC.

7-Saban: Lost two games he had no business losing. Realized a bit too late how cruel a biznitch karma truly is.

8-Fulmer: Took what should've been an automatic trip to Hotlanta (in early December) and a BCS bid and settled for a trip to Hotlanta in late December. Trained Cutcliffe masterfully.

9-Holtz: South Carolinaaaaa, come on and raise up. Well, they did and the time has passed very much so.

10-Cutcliffe: Didn't bother to prepare his team (so it seemed) for several games.

11-Johnson: It's Vandy for Christ's sake.

12-Sherrill: One disgruntled MSU fan summed it up perfectly. "Coach, you are in control of the special teams. After our horrible performance in this aspect, what does it say about your coaching ability?"

I think MSU is making the right move for the most part. I've waivered on whether JLD should go, and I really liked Hendrick, but I'm glad to see the others go. If (rumor) Widenhoffer is hired as DC, I don't think losing JLD will be a loss. Stump should've been fired a couple of years ago, and the two coaches thing for the OL hasn't worked. I wish we could get Fremin back as OL coach. Maybe Sherrill will hire an OC and let him have total control, but that's probably wishful thinking.

Those were pretty good acessments of the SEC coaches. Needeless to say, Jackie has done the least with the talent he has had. He can blame others all he wants - he is the one that is ultimately responsible and he has totally lost his leadership ability. Cutcliffe didn't lose his leadership ability. You can't lose something you never had.
