Thanks. I think the additional scholarship limits will cause another Title IX bonanza for female athletes. Perhaps it will lead to D-I women's gymnastic teams in Texas and other sports we have not imagined before, such as some of the woke sports we are seeing in the Drag Olympics in France. Women break dancers will be a treat. Maybe roller curling?

The Olympics always baffle me with sports I have never seen any other time. However, having never understood Cricket, at least it is not a current Olympic Sport. Break dancing and scholarships somehow don't add up for me... 02-13-banana

I think we would all be shocked at what activities now merit "scholarships" or grants at the college level. I mean, who knew cheerleaders and saxophone players would be on full ride scholarships? Of course part of the proliferation of scholarships is the largely futile attempt to somehow mitigate the ridiculous increases in college costs. What we paid for a semester's full load tuition in the 60s and 70s could scarcely cover the cost of today's parking pass. "After adjusting for currency inflation, college tuition has increased 747.8% since 1963."

Remember--they are going to Pay--give revenue sharing (22M per P4 school) to ALL players on scholarship. So if you're the 115th player in FB or 34th in baseball--you still get Paid pretty well just to ride their bench. SMH.

And with the "no sit-out" rule--even if you find a great player they miss---he's gone after one year to get the big paycheck.

Only hope is that this gets modified.

That's my thought. Baseball as I've loved it is about to be gone. My only hope is the better players will seek playing spots, but the way the rest of the NCAA changes have come the last few years, I'm not holding my breath.

I wondered if something like that happened. You're not the kind of guy who just tries to kill a discussion. Will the additional scholarship limits greatly impact JTSU?

I think this topic and others like it show the potential for a new product for the WAC office. Say once a month or as often as feasible, have someone from the WAC office propose a question and let multiple WAC AD’s answer. Then post their video responses. You could expand this if it works and add coaches with questions about their specific sports.

As far as Tarleton goes, I really don’t know. The link I was trying to post was a Twitter thread but you can’t post a thread, you can only post each comment. Or at least I don’t how to post a thread. Anyway it was from an ESPN writer talking mainly about how the new scholarship limits might impact schools. He specifically stated several schools he talked to might kill their baseball programs because they can’t add the scholarships and therefore can’t compete.

I know a young lady who walked on to play golf at Oklahoma St. She played in the 5 spot her Senior season.

That's great. I hope she got some aid that last year. Even if it's just books, it's nice to be able to tell your friends that you're on scholarship.
