Chicago State tied for first in the Horizon League. They have split with Youngstown and Cleveland State who Chicago is tied with.

The Horizon League tournament will determine the NCAA bid, so they are just playing for seeding now however.

I see where we tied for the regular season title. Hey, a championship is a championship.

Jack Barton named Horizon League women’s tennis Coach of the Year.

The Men’s and Women’s team each had one First Team All Conference player while women also had 2 on Second Team.

Now, all that is left to do is make it to the NCAA’s.

The Cougars shared the regular season title, with the tournament beginning on 4/26, pending the weather issues that have been occurring.

Women’s tennis opened the Horizon tournament with a win over Oakland.

Saturday, they beat Youngstown State in the semifinals. YSU was the only teams that beat the Cougars in the regular season, so getting by them was big.

Next up, the Cougars will play Cleveland State. In the regular season, the Cougars
slipped by Cleveland by a 4-3 score.

Should be a good final. If the Cougars can win again, they will advance to the NCAA’s.

The Cougars cruised thru the Horizon League women’s tennis tournament and earned their first NCAA bid.

In the championship match, they downed Cleveland State 4-2 to earn a spot in the national tournament.

Since the end of February, the team has only lost once, against 13 wins.

That’s what I read. I guess it’s just a deal they worked out because Horizon needs the numbers and the NEC isn’t as low.

I’m sure among tennis coaches they are all perfectly willing to make these deals because keeping a league together is hard, so no reason to collapse the Horizon.

And mediocre programs that don’t have a league home are prime for getting dropped lol, and I’m sure all the coaches know that and have seen it happen at other schools.

I didn’t see this originally, so I don’t know if it was still being worked out or I simply didn’t notice.
