Chicago State names new mens basketball head coach
Assistant Scott Spinelli has been hired as the new head coach.

Spinelli has spend many years as an Assistant at Boston College and Maryland, among other stops. He also served as acting HC at Boston College in 2021.

I’m happy CSU acted quickly to stabilize the situation. Several past coaching changes took place late in the year and made recruiting a lot tougher. This gives him a fair chance to sign the best class he can in his first season.

As noted in another post in the portal thread, there are now 7 players in the portal. 3 entered the portal just in the last day or 2. I’d assume those late entries knew who had been hired. I don’t know whether that’s a sign they don’t want to play for him, or if they are just shopping around like the other 1,750 players.

Whoever he can keep from last season, the better, because they really were a decent team with a lot of rising Seniors. But in this day and age, I almost expect a full rebuild.
