Mental illness is a solid explanation. So is appeasement of Middle Eastern Oil countries which hate us today and demand that we turn our back on the Israelis so that when Israel is gone they and the Russians and Chinese can tell us what to do.

Now as Forrest Gump would say, "I think maybe it's both. At the same time." We have a vapid minded doddler in the White House and he's hell bent on appeasing radical Muslims because he needs their oil to cut prices at the tank in time for an election. In the old days we would just call this treason.
