In Women’s bowling. Last year we lost to Vandy in the championship match, after going up 3-1 in a best of 7. We face Youngstown St next Friday in the double elimination tournament. Jax St and Sam Houston are also in Final Four.

Jacksonville State is the definition of the college transfer portal. They are a startup program, they hired the coach from McKendree, a top 5 program, who immediately got their entire roster to transfer to Jax State.

They should have paid their dues and built up a following at a lower level. I bet they regret jumping to the top level so quickly.

AState is up 1-0 in the Best of 3 Mega Match against #3 Youngstown State this morning.

Each "Mega Match" is a series of 3 styles of team bowling games.

Game 1: Traditional Match: All 5 bowlers bowl 10 frames. Team with Highest combined Pin Total wins
Game 2: Baker Match: 5 games are played with each bowler bowling 2 frames per game. The Highest Pin total at the end of 5 games wins.
Decider: Best of 7 Baker Series: Up 7 to games are played with each bowler bowling 2 frames per game. However instead of total pins winning, each game is separate, and the first team to win 4 games wins.

This is true for every match but the televised final, in which only the Best of 7 Baker series is played.

Tournament is Double elimination.

AState beats #3 Youngstown State 2-0 in the Best of 3 series. Will face #1 Jacksonville State this afternoon for a spot in the Championship Match.

2-2 heading to game 5. Jax State has bowled 2 different 240's in their wins. They do that, the title is theirs.

AState goes nuts in game 5 and bowls a 255. AState leads 3-2

Jax State bowls another 237 and ties the series at 3. Its a winner take all game 7 for the National Title.

Red Wolves now tied with Nebraska for most runner-up finishes with four. No longer tied with Central Missouri for most runner-up finishes without a championship.

I can't imagine that trip home. Up 3-2 dropping last two games after being up 3-1 and dropping last three against Vanderbilt the year before.
