I knew we knew it, but Auntie Em, we ain't in Kansas anymore and it all being about the STUDENT-athletes, which was always a fraud in a lot of ways, is no longer a pretense. Not really sure why there is the pretense of separation between the school and the NIL providers. As if all of UH's athletes of note aren't on the Landry's payroll.
I hope $MU falls on their face. TU also, now that they're not playing in a conference without bye weeks.
I'm not sure that we are going to make 5 years before we beg Trinity to allow us in their D-III conference. For sure 10.
Well, I did get to see Rice in a bowl game, actually 4-just couldn't stomach the last 3 or make the effort-the Liberty Bowl was such a letdown. I suspect being able to see them in the NCAA may be a pipedream and I bet I've seen 400 home games, at least got to see them clinch the SWC vs TCU when i was very young. At least my college team made it to the Final 4 my freshman year. I really hate Magic Johnson.

UH has a personal injury law firm as NIL sponsor. And Mattress Mac.

I was in Dallas this eeekend and stayed, coincidentally, at the team hotel for the Cougs. Right in the middle of the lobby was a big booth with red and white decorations and UH insignia…manned by very perky and attractive UH students. All advertising the NIL opportunities for UH.

This is what I don't get. NIL was 'sold' as somehow not being tied to schools... but schools are advertising their internal NIL deals. It's just a lie. These guys (not all of them, but lots of them) are now paid athletes. Period.
I'm literally shocked that nobody has sued the universities for offering academic scholarships (which denies others that opportunity) to people who don't have any intention of obtaining a degree.

Agree. It’s coming. Universities are about to go through a world of litigation over NIL, scholarships, Title IX, etc. Congress will have to get involved because the NCAA has no legal means of regulating any of it.
