Gunnar Oakes
Playing for the Michigan Panthers today and made a very nice catch.
Of course, the news organizations have focused on the fact that Kenny Willekes, Jarret Horst and the third string QB Brian Lewerke are locally from MSU. Gunnar is apparently a nothing burger from EMU. Nuttin new here for sure.

Dear Jerry,
Didn't Terry Myrick (spelling) play linebacker for the Panthers last season? If, I'm correct I wonder what happened to him?

Myrick is not on the roster.
Gunnar was drafted by the USFL last season but did not play with the Panthers as he was working out for the Lions. The UFL is not a career, it is a potential path to the NFL, similar to what minor league baseball players endure. Gunnar is 24 and worked with me at Eagle Crest last summer, he is probably taking his last shot at the NFL. Good looking guy, smart with a nice personality, his future outside of football is bright. At some point, he may realize that his future in football is not there and move on. I suspect that is what Myrick did. Still rooting for Oakes, he is a good guy.
