WBB finishes at 15-16. In Carlsen’s last 5 seasons she has had 1 .500 season and 4 losing seasons. Been a Huskie fan since 1963 and just speaking for myself but the more seasons I experience (mostly talking FB-MBB-WBB) like this the more interest I loose. I know several people who were at one time diehards but don’t go to games anymore. Just my opinion but several major changes are needed but I know it’s all controlled by the $ or lack of. There’s always next year.

You are not alone! While I understand the impact $ can have on a program, it is not like NIU has been a top dog in that category. Those of us like you who have been around the program appreciated how Huskie programs in the past overcame limitations. Strength and Conditioning guru Zielinski had buckets with cement, chains, or whatever could take the place of some expensive gym equipment, men's and women's basketball coaches recruited more from Chicago and the suburbs which translated to just a few more fans in the stands and athletes people in the community could better relate to. The MAC has slipped in terms of its stature and competitiveness so why is it harder for these programs to succeed or progress from year to year? The quality of leadership at the top has unfortunately diminished both for the university as a whole and the athletic department as has the coaching hires.

Maybe, just maybe, the problem is right there. You rank WBB right up there with FB! The money resource is limited. The money is distributed on the basis of DEI, not merit!
Speaking of - why is there not a WFB? With women's wrestling becoming a thing how long before WFB! That would gut the FB program.

I listed WBB with FB and MBB because of MY interest in those 3 sports not trying to compare the sports based on money. My reference to money was referring to the athletic department/university not being able to buy out coaches/administrators and having to keep people on when a change is overdue. That was all.

Next season will be her last unless she is in that 19-20 game W category IMO.

Her daughter looks like a good recruit and should be getting some back from injury next season if I'm not mistaken.
