RE: 2024 Men's CAA Tournament
In the end to me it comes down to a few things. They fouled Okros late. The perfect guy we want going to the FT line. He went 1-2 and SBU came down and tied it up forcing OT. After that point I agree it didnt feel like we were going to win. Main part of that was we could not finish anything at the rim with contact. Then we kept sending one of the team's worst FT shooters to the line and he continued to miss shot after shot. I know he had a 2-2 trip late but most of his trips were 1-2's. Some of the shots were easy shots he was fouled on too. SBU seemed to hit every shot at the rim when fouled down the stretch. So while we were scraping for 1 point they were getting 3 at a time. Tough to win doing that for very long. Justin and Spiker decided to go to the stall offense to kill the clock. It hurts us every time and we start making dumb mistakes and taking ill-advised shots. Play to win. Dont play to not lose.

Yeah, the last 30 seconds of regulation and the first OT were just brutal stretches where we had the chance to put them away:

+1 with ball 31.3s left in reg, get fouled, go 1/2, give up o-board, give up 2nd chance shot, OT

+2 with ball 3:17 in OT, get fouled, go 1/2, give up o-board, give up 2nd chance shot

Next pos +1 2:23 in OT, get fouled, go 1/2, give up o-board, give up 2nd chance shot

Next pos +0 1:35 in OT, get fouled, go 1/2, get defensive stop, take horrible end of shot clock 3 with 36s left, force miss, get d-board, get fouled with 18s, go 1/2, give up tying shot, don’t get shot off before buzzer, double OT

Glad I didn't watch it... it was frustrating enough just seeing the game log. Not a game we should have lost, at all. Spiker could've done better for sure, but the players should have enough experience to avoid putting themselves in these situations. Just bad all around.

Does SB beating Hofstra make you feel different?

Charleston was in a dog fight with Towson but survived.

Stony Brook then pulled another upset over Hofstra. Thomas was the only one who showed up for Hofstra, scoring 32 of their 59 points

Charleston faces Stony Brook tonight at 7 on CBSSN. They are 7.5 point favorites

Nope. In fact it pisses me off even more because we had the draw we wanted and let it slip through our fingers. The opportunity was there to get to the finals with a chance to dance and we couldnt get the job done

have to give stony brook credit. they have some guys who can flat out score.

i was rooting for towson. i feel like they try so hard to win it and just can't quite get there. beautiful arena, great promotions, and they used to have programs to reward students for coming to games. i think they said it was their 4th straight semifinals appearance which is great by our standards. just can't get over that hump to a title though.

Was a great title game last night. SBU just never let up. Impressive. Hit a bunch of absurd shots but they kept falling. Most of their 3's were super deep as well. 14-2 run out of halftime I thought that was it for SBU. Especially since their 3s were all missing short. Then they found themselves and got back into it. Then Charleston got back up 10 and SBU managed to claw all the way back and not only force OT but had the ball at the end to win it (turned it over). Crazy game for sure. That was a lot of basketball for SBU. Congrats to CofC, now go represent the CAA in the dance before you head to the A10 win some money to leave for all of us.

My guess is they are flirting between a 13/14 as their NET just got into the top 100. Wont be a good match up.
