Because they deny simple tenets of economics. As Price goes up, the Quantity Demanded goes down. As people left, they raised prices instead of dropping them.
The problem is some of the channels on cable show reruns of the same show like The Golden Girls all the time. Hallmark Channel and CMT does that and they are owned by different companies.
Tru TV is being rebranded to a sports network for WB Discovery now while moving their top shows over to TBS.
G4 is not G4 anymore. It was rebranded to Esquire, but now since shuttered down. G4 was about computers and gaming, and changing it away from the gamers side hurt them since gaming is very popular today.
Pursuit Channel is not on every cable networks, and is second to last.
BEIN SPORT could have problems to survive in the future.
FUSE used to be part of basic, but was moved to extended more expensive package. Now, since they did the same as MTV? They may not survived.
MTV 2 and other cable duplicate channels could wind up shutting down as well. Since there is no music videos being played? Why keep the name MTV or CMT or VH1?
SPORTSMAN CHANNEL is part of the sports package for my local cable. They are cheaper, and could replace some channels on basic. They are owned by The Outdoor Channel.
ACCUWEATHER does 24 hours weather cast, unlike The Weather Channel who moved away from doing weather. This should be more important to move to basic cable where they get the ratings.
FOX SPORTS 2 was the wrong move to change the name of it in the first place. It was known as Fuel Tv that does extreme sports. They lost their viewers since they moved away from surfing, rock climbing and the likes. It was the only go to channel for people who are into extreme sports. Putting the BYU at Boise State on FS2 was a terrible mistake on their part as ESPN shows those type of games on their network and get 2.0 in ratings everytime.
OLYMPIC CHANNEL is not working so well.
UNIVERSAL KIDS is very low in the ratings. It is part of the bundle with Paramount, SyFy Channel and the likes.
THE COWBOY CHANNEL is more for rural American for farmers, ranchers, and the likes. They show old Roy Rogers tv show, horse training, horses, rodeos and all that. They are not even on basic, and could do better if they have better access. It is a channel that people can learn what ranchers and farmers do and all that as well.
DISCOVERY LIFE CHANNEL could be shut down. They could move some of the programs to TLC to stop some of their reality crap there.
DISCOVERY FAMILY CHANNEL does cartoons and all that.
TENNIS CHANNEL could be better off shutting down. It is not a popular sport at all.
FOX BUSINESS NETWORK can be roll into Fox News.
GREAT AMERICAN FAMILY should be shut down. This was Great American Country, and was the last channel on basic cable that was showing music videos.
BIG TEN NETWORK is in 77th place, and is not doing very good in tv ratings. They need tv media markets, and they could be looking at TCU/Dallas, Colorado/Denver, Utah/Salt Lake City, Arizona/Arizona State/Phoenix, Calford/San Francisco, Rice/Houston, Kansas/Kansas City, Notre Dame/Indy and Chicago, Florida State-USF-Miami for those big Florida tv markets, Georgia Tech/Atlanta, UNC/North Carolina, Virginia/Virginia, Pittsburgh. That is where they would be looking to get into more households.
FX MOVIE CHANNEL could roll into FX or FXXX since they show some movies.
Some of the Nick channels can merge, and so do some Disney channels as well.
It also shows that the Big 10 Network and ACC network lost viewers. So did SEC Network and all the ESPN channels. The numbers for streaming sports is not going up either as ESPN + is losing subscribers.
