Spring football begins
Any comments can go here I guess.

We do have a spring roster online now. I haven’t gone through it to see if there are any other changes we don’t know about. But if you use the bowl game depth chart, we return 7starters on offense (all but Bradley at TE, Servin, Otoviano and McCaffrey), and 9:starters on defense (all but the two transfers from Duncanville Carroll and Devones). I’d argue that McCaffrey is the only one of those seven who will be hard to replace based on the roster in place- maybe we will need a DB to emerge but we should find someone at least at Devones level. Basically the entire second string returns too.

We have the 7 new transfers on the roster. And quite a few returning starters who could grad transferred but didn’t (I would also argue several who should be in line for all conference honors). Taylor, Coco, Fresch, Conti, Pearcy and Morrison on defense are all pleasant returnees. Banks and Dumont are in that same category I’d say.

True freshmen will be added in the fall. And perhaps another transfer or two (like the Brown receiver). As others have basically indicated, this is probably our strongest roster on paper in a decade.

I went through the 2023 and 2024 rosters, and the only three players I didn’t see coming back from last year that are new names are Phillipi, Leone and Bowling.

It might be a good way to get the most talent as possible on the field. You hate to see a guy with ability sitting the bench as a third string QB.

He’d be a great QB in a read-option offense.

Agreed. And there is the Luke McCaffery factor. Luke made a very successful transition to WR. Perhaps lightning can strike twice.
