That said, we need an age cutoff where politicians are no longer allowed to serve in office after they turn 'NN' years old. Should it be 67 when full retirement begins? Maybe 70.5 when you are forced to take distributions from your 401k, IRAs and Pensions? Not sure, but we need a cutoff mark.

Pretty pathetic to have Barbara Boxer serving as a senator right before her death. She's not capable of taking care of herself and she needed someone to have power of attorney over her life...but she could make laws that affect 300 million people....

Why do they need to? You can get all that on Fox. When Fox starts running and commenting on all the trump stuff, then maybe you have a point.

But I don't think you can put an age limit in. Some can clearly handle things at older ages. Yes, Boxer was way too old. Mitch, et. al. too. At least Mitch is stepping aside. But he probably should have soon after his last couple freezes in public. That was hard, and just sad, to watch.

Isn't MSNBC a news source that cares about journalism? Isn't FOX supposed to be a group of partisan hacks that don't show the complete picture? Wouldn't MSNBC want to be an objective site that's sole purpose is to provide us the truth? Why not elevate themselves beyond the hacks at FOX?

Because politicians as a rule don't hang it up when they know that they cannot work to their full potential. Even citing Mitch voluntarily "retiring" - he's still a senator. He's probably been degrading for some time but it got to be too much for him. He seems to be the exception - not the rule.

Military officers all have mandatory retirement ages. The fear is having someone in charge during critical situations whose brain does not process as quickly due to age. It's a matter of national security. Same should apply to elected politicians - full stop. It's a matter of our security to have people not be impaired by mental degradation.

lol----thats what you really want to go with? Keep in mind the Democrat "presidential candidate"---actually IS a clear poster child for dementia patients. At literally every public event, we see Dementia Joe wandering around on stage, staring off into space---mumbling incoherently----often talking to dead people----asking desperately where he is and where he should go--until he is safely led away by a staff member doing double duty as an elder care nurse. Now that Democrat policy positions have become so vastly unpopular with the majority of American voters, Democrats have reached the sad state of affairs where Trump's small speech flub is all the Democrats can find to talk about (and this is an especially odd narrative to push given that Biden's mind vapor locks almost every time he has to give an off the cuff response).

Now the Supreme Court has basically said with their 9-0 decision that the biggest threat to democracy is the Democrats who have hatched a scheme with willing conspirators in the White House and DOJ, to block voters from casting a ballot for the candidate of their choice.

Ah, but Trump could and did.
So the doctors' personal biases were wrong.

LeftwingTom is trying his level best to come across as levelheaded, factual, and fair with his comments on this topic. Unfortunately, he's playing a losing hand, and it doesn't matter how many times he reshuffles the deck, it's still a losing hand. There is simply no comparison between the mental acuity of Biden and Trump today. One needs help with where to stand on a stage, then help to get off of the stage. The other is frequently out on the golf course competing (for example).

03-lmfao Swallow that kool-aid.

trump competes on a golf course. 03-rotfl You mean in those club competitions where he submits a round he shot on a different day, with his buddies as witnesses then uses that round to claim the victory?

How sad.

I would love to see trump try to get his lard ass over a bar and onto a bike seat and try to balance for more than a few feet. 02-13-banana

Lol. I'd love to see Biden make it up the stairs to Airforce One without stumbling (or falling) 03-rotfl They even had to bring in the kiddie stairs for him. 03-lmfao

I'd love to see Biden find his own way off of a stage. COGS It's embarrassing to see him need his "handler" grab him by the wrist and lead him off. 02-13-banana

I'd love to see Biden stand at the podium and take unrehearsed questions from the media for an hour or more - heck, lets just say 30 minutes for him - without a cheat sheet showing the questions and his answer to it. 03-nutkick

Let's call a spade a spade here Leftwing. Biden is both physically and mentally unable to fulfill the duties of the Presidency today - much less for another 4 years after this term runs out. 05-nono

Here's Biden - 03-old

Here's Trump - 01-donnankungfu

Don't about anyone else, but to me, trump isn't as bad, he's worse!

Maybe not worse on all the cognitive side of things, but trump is going to be out for retribution, etc. which would be WAY worse than Biden flubbing a comment here and there. Having a bitter old man looking for ways to pay people back for things he erroneously thinks were done wrong to him, like rigging an election, would be horrific for the country.

And FFS, get real! You think my couple threads amidst the dozen posted by CP every week distract you guys from anything? 03-lmfao

lol, does "Elections have consequences" ring a bell? You cant really be talking about "be out for retribution" with a straight face.

I think you mean Dianne Feinstein instead of Barbara Boxer, who is still kicking and retired in 2017. Your point is a great one though, nobody should be able to serve in Congress if they are under a POA. I like your thoughts on age limits too, it would take a constitutional amendment to do that but if anything could make it happen, surely it is this era of geriatric presidents. Once the age is settled (I like 70), I'd apply it to Congress, federal judges and Supreme Court justices. No running for reelection to Congress after you turn 70, Supreme Court Justices must retire at the end of the term after they've turned 70, and federal judges must retire at the end of the year in which they turn 70.
