Kent State vs. Central Michigan
The Golden Flashes will stay home and wait for the Chippewas to arrive at the MAC Center for a Saturday matinee. The Flashes find themselves as the 7th seed in a tight race to Cleveland. CMU, on the other hand is down to fourth after losing back to back games to Miami and Ball State. Saturday's matchups may provide more clarity or they may further muddy the waters as the men and women of the MAC prepare to put it all on the line!

1. Akron 12-3
2. Toledo 11-4
3. Ohio 10-5
4. CMU 10-5

5. *BGSU 8-7 @Ohio
6. *Miami 8-7 @Eastern Michigan
7. Kent State 7-8 vs. Central Michigan
8. WMU 7-8 @Ball State

9. Ball State 6-9 vs. WMU
10. EMU 5-10 vs. Miami
11. NIU 4-11
12. Buffalo 2-13

*I am not sure if BGSU is actually the five and Miami is actually the six.

If they are in bold. Cheer for them!

GO FLASHES!

Miami is the five. They and BG split so the next tiebreaker is the teams' record against the #1 team, then the #2 team, then the #3 team, etc. until there is a break. Miami beat Akron and BG did not. That makes Miami the current #5.

And Hornbeak is back. Are these injuries or rolling suspensions? If I’m a senior and it’s Senior Day, I’m not sitting this one unless it’s a very serious injury.

Putting the ball in the basket has been an issue thus far.

Not sure why we didn’t call TO and set up a play there, we had ~5 seconds, instead we rush down court and heave up a shot.

I assume injuries. Hornbeak was in a boot last game and Payton had his hand wrapped up today. He missed that dunk last game and had to have an injury timeout called. Hopefully it's not too bad and he's able to play again.

RE: Kent State vs. Central Michigan
A couple thoughts.

Gio had a senior moment tonight. Refused to let the team lose. Super impressive game by him.

The play in OT with 2 seconds on the shot clock where Bass cut baseline and got a foul was 100% Sendy. He was screaming at the refs for a timeout, they were ignoring him. Bass was standing by himself in the corner by the bench. Sendy went and said something to him while the refs were talking about the shot clock and stopped calling for a timeout. Then boom great cut for a foul.

Lastly, that was a really bad officiated game. It went both ways. But man, they were not good at their jobs.

As many of you have probably already seen, the Beacon Journal reports that Payton's injury was "season-ending'.

Does anyone know whether they have clinched a spot in the MAC tournament yet, with the tie-breakers and all. If not, do they have to win one more game or can they get in with "help" from other teams?

Story we got yesterday is Payton broke left wrist on missed dunk vs Buffalo. How serious? and will he play again this season?
No clue. He appeared to be wearing a black splint. Not a full cast.

As I stated above, the game story in the Beacon said that his injury is "season-ending". I hate the "slam dunk". It became old-hat long ago. Ho-hum. I wouldn't want to see it go back to 1967/68 through 1975/76 when the dunk was banned, but I wish coaches would forbid the so-called "slam dunk". Just drop it in like they used to years ago before the collapsible rims.
