Quitters never win and Winners never quit
How far do quitters go? Would a quitter make a good professional player?
I do not think the quitters on this team realize the consequences of their ways yet.

RE: Quitters never win and Winners never quit
We’ve got a team full of transfers & for some this is their 3rd stop.
Some may say they’re all quitters.

RE: Quitters never win and Winners never quit
Look in the day of free multiple transferring and NIL $$$$$ what do you expect?
Everybody just wants to get theirs.
Team? Lololololololololololololol
Loyalty? Lolololololololololololol
But, this is what we all wanted, right?

Let’s give them a chance. You may never know, they may be tired of losing!

RE: Quitters never win and Winners never quit
A lot of coaching involves a lot of psychology. You are dealing with young and immature people. If you listen carefully to Coach Norvell, you will see a psychology master. I think Cal was the same way. Maybe that has something to do with it. When I was a sales manager, I had to constantly motivate my people. It was a big part of my job.
One of the things I learned was that I was like a playground director and my sales staff were the kiddos. I took them to the top of the park slide each morning and then they got to spend the day going down the slide. At the end of the day, we talked about our successes and our problems. Then, the next morning, it was back to the top of the slide. They were paid pros....but I still had to motivate them, regardless of the size of their commission checks or how many awards they had won.
Training and motivation took place everywhere, in the meetings, in the hallways at a bar at night. I kept $50 and $100 bills in my wallet. The idea, catch them doing something RIGHT and hand them some money to let them know I appreciate it. Motivation was my responsibility.

Cal only has one type of motivation, yell curse and scream. It works really well for players who respond to being called names and cursed at, but the other players fold up and disappear on the bench. Earl Barron needed pats on the backs and encouragement, but Cal never could adjust to those type players.

Earl appreciated it actually. Maybe not at the time , but he was prominent at Cal’s hall of fame induction. Wonder how Earl’s professional poker career is going ?

Willie Kemp was wasted on Cal as well. Not sure, but some say Cal killed Duane Ervin's soul too.
