I estimate about 250-300, a lot of local Dallas transplants

Penny chewed out the officials during 3 timeouts (y’all were watching commercials)

Q was not into the game , during warm ups , he sat and watched for about 15 minutes
And then when north Texas left the floor , he went and shot free throws

Our 2 players were 5-23 from the field
Nt 2 players were 11-12 from 3 at one point

I think no 2 called Q a b**** at the end of game
When he was bringing the ball up the court

North Texas must have waxed the floor
A lot of slips and falls, but no travelling called the whole game

Perhaps Penny should spend timeouts coaching his team.

Or maybe he is in a no win situation with some fans

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t

I watched both teams get away with murder. Refs weren’t the problem last night.

The problem with that line of thinking is that if Penny was doing everything he can to get wins, his sons wouldn't ever see the floor. He is untouchable and he knows it. We are in a situation where the fans care more about winning than the head coach.

We actually have some that are like cult members, who will never accept that their cult leader is capable of doing wrong.

They're unable to separate Penny the player from Penny the coach.

They literally follow Penny as the people in Jonestown, followed Jim Jones or members of Heaven's gate followed Marshall Applegate.

Crazy that Tulane & USF get mentioned a lot for expansion because of academic and tv markets. Memphis had almost as many fans in Denton as Tulane or USF does for a home game and we outdraw both in football.

Tampa and Nola are tourist destinations. Memphis is not

You say that, but it actually is.

Memphis named one of the global "23 Best Places to Go in 2023"

Believe it or not, people from around the globe still come to Graceland.

Beale Street, National Civil Rights Museum, the zoo, etc.

There are a few hotel projects on the board and underway, a couple of those are luxury hotel projects.

So it’s just dumb luck that we never seem to get picked ?

Personally, I think it comes down to market size. Maybe academics is part of it. Maybe the state of the Liberty Bowl is, too; but that's about to be fixed.

I think he is an absolute pr!ck but I am just about there in agreeing with you. He would win here. Plus the NCAA is about dead anyway and NIL is a legal thing now. He’d crush it here

I think so as well. He's at a school Memphis could take him from. And we all know Penny isn't going anywhere anytime soon, but that time could come in the next couple of seasons after what's happening this season. And by then the stench of Wade's issue at LSU should be toned down enough to make him more acceptable. Unless of course someone else beats us to him.

Hell the Tigers can do better than Wade. Sheezzzus.

That's probably true but I'd bet we'd still be highly ranked with him and probably have around 21-23 wins. Any halfway decent coach would have this team in a similar spot. Has the negativity around Greg Marshall cooled yet?

I guess tigerlands deleted the post. I think saying we could do better is underestimating Wade's ability and potential availability while overestimating who exactly we could pull.

Everyone could see this coming with Penny, except for Memphis fans. The rest of the world is not surprised. Houston fans saw this a mile away.

Remember how much Memphis fans trashed Houston on this board? Said Houston isn't ready for Big 12 or didn't deserve it, or Houston took Memphis' spot, which is hilarious. Memphis never had a spot. No one wants Memphis. Probably never will.

The only reason Memphis won the AAC Tournament last year is Marcus Sasser (AAC POY and NBA first-round pick) didn't play. It's like beating the Bulls without Jordan. Pfft. Plus, Houston already had a 1 seed locked up. And that's the biggest win for Memphis is the last 10 years at least.

Memphis is a middle of the pack AAC team and has one NCAA Tournament win in a decade. Let that sink in. Time for Tigers fans to get a reality grip that Memphis will never be relevant.

GO COOGS!!!!!

I’d almost rather hear that than listen to someone like Pastner tell us how great North Texas is, when everyone knows they aren’t

To be fair......North Texas is well-coached, they have good players, and run good stuff.

North Texas has two players

It was just a reference to days past...
