They got their butts kicked.

I hate to bring this up again, but here I go.
When Coach O was interviewed after the game, his comments were more than concerning.
"I don't know" was his response to why they lost and why they didn't play well.
It's his job to know. To be fair he owns up to it. But just like any coach at any sport.... "I don't know" is not an acceptable answer. Figure it out.
Are the players not buying in?
Is it a bad gameplan? Execution?
Scouting?
______ ?
Our coach doesn't know either.
That is concerning to me.

Disclaimer: I am not saying he should be fired. I really, really like Coach O. But, I cannot help but point out some obvious red flags.
He needs to know these things. He needs an answer. You cannot fix what you don't know.

The Dukes are getting beat off the dribble. They're not keeping the other team from getting into the lane. GSU's starting trio of 5'6"ish guards were doing whatever they wanted. They scored 44 points and dished 9 assists combined. McDaniel is the top scorer, but doesn't offer much on the defensive end besides grabbing some rebounds. She's getting exposed by quicker players. One of the players in the rotation is not doing much of anything the last few games besides making mistakes. She was an asset as long as the mistakes were minimal. The offensive woes were easy to see last night. The perimeter defense has got to get better. If it doesn't, they'll lose when the offense isn't clicking like yesterday. There's an opportunity there for Amira Williams to get into the rotation, but she has to make the most of her limited opportunities.

I know there’s a lot of frustration with this team (deservedly so), but what on earth is this comment about? Because she’s in a different shirt?

Yep. Everyone else is in pink JMU shirts showing support for the Play for Kay and Pink Out game. Bristow is wearing a white shirt with some sort of pink writing on it - could not read the words from my seat. It shows - whether that is the reason or not - that she doesn't care about supporting her team or the University in what was at one time one of its signature WBB support programs. Same thing with her leaving the floor during the national anthem.

I have heard her several times in press conferences and on the radio and she seems to be an intelligent, articulate young woman. It just appears from her actions that she doesn't understand what being part of a team is. And that is disappointing.

My opinion - I am fine if nobody on this board shares it. I do know that there are other fans who feel the way I do.

Hevynne put her pink shirt on before the game started, OK? Now drop it.
I looked at the box score and several things surprised me. One was that Annalicia had as many rebounds as Peyton and Carole, which was 6. Only Ashanti Barnes had more, 7. Ashanti played more minutes than anyone, 31. Jamia was next with 29 and Chloe played 27. Peyton and Carole had 25 each. We actually have more bench power than most teams. But we were missing our most powerful player for unknown (still) reasons.

Most of the teams are fancy with their warmup outerwear. There's a prewarmup shoot around shirt. The warmup shirt and maybe some more. A player might go through 2 or 3 costume changes before the game actually starts. Tough to get all that coordinated.

Event is probably a better word than program.

In years past, at halftime, JMU invited women who are either current cancer patients or cancer survivors to walk out on the court and be honored. It was very moving, especially when you saw women you knew who you had no idea were either ill or had survived cancer.

A couple of years, WBB players actually escorted some of the women - think they did this before the game instead of halftime It was especially moving to see Kiki escort her mother who has been battling cancer for several years.

Waving the rally towels was nice but for me (and these are just my opinions) but it lacked the personal touch of actually seeing the women and honoring them. At least it was something.
