Noticed on the Conference Message Board that 247 has A-States over all class rated 6th in the SBC and # 91 0ver counting all commits: all https://247sports.com/Season/2024-Footba...rence=SBC.

Like this feature but very misleading, at least at this point because it appears 247 is using the HS ratings, if they had one, for all A-States additions and most of the Portal additions of the other SBC schools.

While I have not seen a overall rating on ON3, ON3 has assigned a transfer rating to all of A-States Portal additions and just looking at a few of the other SBC schools they have done the same for most of the SBC Portal additions.

Because unlike ON3, 247 has not assigned transfer ratings to most of the SBC additions , and because as a rule most P5 transfers down get lower transfer ratings than out of HS and transfers up get higher ratings , 247's overall leader Southern Miss has benefited from signing a lot of players from P5's with high HS ratings and not as many for the lower division with low or no ratings.

All but one of A-States P5 additions ratings dropped, all their callups went up, and those without a rating got 3-star ratings on ON3:https://www.on3.com/college/arkansas-state-red-wolves/transfer-portal/wire/football/2024/ . Expect the same when and if 247 assigns their transfer ratings and expect they will be close to ON3's.

On3 has 247 overall leader USM getting similar results as far as their P5's and callups :https://www.on3.com/college/southern-miss-golden-eagles/transfer-portal/wire/football/2024/ . Expect the same when and if 247 assigns their transfer ratings and expect they will be close to ON3's.

Again like what 247 is doing but their overall ratings should not be released until every player added through the Portal has a transfer rating.

Because I really like the idea of a HS, Portal and overall rating , will revisit 247's overall ratings down the road to see if they do assign transfer ratings to all the 2024 SBC additions, and will get in touch with 247 as to why not if they don't.

Don't subscribe to ON3, and while they are my go to site as far as keeping up with portal additions, and are diligent about assigning transfer ratings, really have not seen a SBC class rating other than this one :https://www.on3.com/db/rankings/industry-team/football/2024/?conference=sbc

Would have to manually create your own SBC transfer rating from their 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings : https://www.on3.com/transfer-portal/team...ball/2024/ ,if they had any SBC teams included -their SBC rankings does not work, so don't know where their transfer rankings fit in as far as ranking SBC classes.

Because Butch Jones is 100% committed to A-State being a program built around recruiting and developing HS players , and only using the Portal to replace player lost to the Portal , or for other reasons other than graduation, it is more about development anyway.

While not absolutely necessary, it is probably a big plus to have the best HS players in the SBC to develop, which for the most part they have had since Butch arrived .
