Appears to be a privately funded project, which is awesome for the University budget. The developer also is headed by the Stryker family money, so I doubt this will end up like the original River Caddis purchase of the EMU COB. It most likely will get done. It will also be the highest quality arena within a 45-minute drive, something that the Gervin cannot say.

It is off campus though. Student attendance for basketball games on EMU's west campus has been paltry to say the least since the move from Bowen.

That said, I drove by the Gervin today. Both the arena and west lots were absolutely packed with vehicles! Something was going on.

Fan, thank you for the info, you are the best! I searched the Gervin website and could not figure out what was going on, thus I posed the question and hoped that either you or Nickle would know what was going on. Honestly, that amount of vehicles on Hewitt is similar to an EMU football game. Great utilization of a great facility.
