The 2024 JMU Athletics Hall of Fame Class will include: softball pitcher Meredith Felts (2006-2009), women's basketball head coach Betty Jaynes (1970-1982), women's soccer forward/midfielder Annie Lowry (2004-2007), two-sport athlete Julie Martinez (field hockey 1996-1999, lacrosse (1997-2000), football head coach Mickey Matthews (1999-2013) and baseball infielder/outfielder Greg Miller (1998-2001). The class will also include the fourth team to be inducted into the JMU Athletics Hall of Fame as the 2004 football national championship team will be recognized.

The induction ceremony will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024 in the Atlantic Union Bank Center. Ticket sales for the event will be announced during the spring.

I think the time is about right, if only 5? years too late?

2004 was an amazing whole something. No one much gave a poo prior, we had countless talks about novel readers in the stands, knitting needles, and the obligatory bail out after the MRD’s finished up.
2004 changed most of that.

Still work to be done, but sell outs are now more the norm, instead of the exception.

Long time coming, I’d love to see the old gang bringing it back together.

Where’s ‘Holic? Supe, foatty, Slaw, bulldog, JJ, Dukie, Dutchess, Not Dutchess, and all the rest that have slid on by.

Countless others, whose names escape me now, but not their faces.

Let’s get. 2004 reunion together, that’d be fun so long as I don’t lock my keys in the car again…

Well deserved! The 2004 National Championship game was my first JMU football game since I had graduated in 1984. I was living in Atlanta and had been following them that season and in the playoffs and said what the heck, only a 2 hour drive. That re-ignited my interest in JMU football and I started going to a few games a year and now have season tickets. Got to talk with Mickey down on the field after a home game. He had some great years at JMU.

Are they inviting the members of the 2004 team to be there?

I would assume they are all invited yes.

This will likely be my first attended HOF ceremony.

definitely saved that date on my calendar. It's usually a nice plated dinner affair with a program, but with it being in the AUBC they're obviously expecting a crowd and will change up the format so I'll be interested in hearing more about the event but this will almost definitely not be the usual HOF ceremony.

It will be interesting to see if both the old and new AD's are in attendance

I'm sure this will be the most attended Induction Ceremony ever at JMU.
Will be really cool if the Induction videos are shown on the overhead scoreboard video.
It may be held in the Campanelli room, though. It's always been in Festival and they
do an outstanding job.
