Toledo MBB Top 15 in Wins since 2020
Saw on Twitter they listed the 30 teams with the most wins in men's college basketball since 2020. Toledo is tied at #13 with 88 wins and counting. Just behind defending national champion UConn, tied with Duke, and just ahead of Tennessee!

While this is true, UT and others like them do not have the quality of wins that P6 schools do.

Who cares? If it was so easy to have that many wins against "lesser competition", why don't more mid-majors/low-majors have more wins than UT?

Totally agree, Toledo's 3-1/2 year run is one of the best in Program history. Now if the team can figure out a way to go on a 3 DAY run in Cleveland next month, I will in turn go on a 3 month bender!

You see P6 schools lining up to play at Savage? Not because Kowalczyk isn’t calling them. You can’t beat teams that won’t play you.

The most impressive runs are uninterrupted because the target is on your back and you're still winning. We didn't cycle down when we should have and that's a pleasant surprise. It helps the MAC has been down to beat up on but that number isn't a fluke. Coach K despite my bishing has the best of everyone in our league except Senderoff. Props. Now let's do it the 2nd week of March!

Only team on that list that hasn't made the NCAA tournament...would trade a few of those wins to get in there once or twice.

Exactly. Develop players during the season for the three games in March, be prepared for the extra physical play with more depth on front line. Keep rolling Wight and Brbrc out there and give them experience. Sacrifice a seed or two ot three in conference tourney to get to the dance

Bingo. Kowalcyk wins a lot of games. So does Cullop. They are to be commended. But, you get exposure and respect by going to the ncaa tournament and neither coach has excelled in that category. (I realize Cullop has 2 trips but in 15 years, I wouldn’t call that a huge success)

She advanced a round in the NCAAs, has 8 WNIT trips, a WNIT title and plays in a league who has had multiple bids multiple times... That's so so much better of a resume than Todd.

I wasn’t comparing to Kowalcyk but 2 ncaa trips and a WNIT title in 15 years for a program like Toledo that is the flagship of the conference, has best facilities and biggest fan support is not exactly jaw dropping.

There are 3 teams during the past 15 seasons in MAC women's hoops to win an Ncaa tourney game. CMU, UB and Toledo. So maybe not draw dropping... winning the WNIT is its own class though. Also drawing 4k crowds and being the best attended school in the state of Ohio is something no one in our conference does. 3.8 GPA etc... she was a national coach of the year candidate. Beating Michigan in back to back years... idk she is the best female basketball coach in MAC history possibly. That's rarified Air. Coach K is in the top 50 coaches. Probably 50 coaches have made the NCAA tourney...

I think this is a good thing. Better than practice and against a quality opponent. They need minutes to get better. Why not? I'm guessing the guys are looking forward to this game. More prep for the 3 days in Cleveland.

I’d take a few more wins to get in the NCAA a couple times. Win a couple of those championship games and you’re in. The recent early loss to Ohio, who went on to win the tourney and advance was serendipitous. The problem is the teams faced in the finals were really good teams Kent last year, and Buffalo a few years back. Coach K mentioned several times he maybe shouldn’t have red shirted Simmons last year. Seeing what we’ve seen from Simmons this year, I really think he could have made the difference needed last year to advance. Toledo went cold shooting last year and going inside could have been what was needed. What needs to happen this year is the Grbic and Wight need to embrace the importance of their roles a begin making a difference offensively. The teams in the MAC that win the tournament tend to be more dominant inside. If you’re going to advance in the NCAA, you need that too.
