The bowl game...and then they hire Eposito who was coaching a 3-3-5 at Western Michigan.

IF we can get and retain the talent lever needed to run it.

Memphis recruiting in 2024 is different than Memphis in the 80s and ,90s.
We didn't set the world on fire recruiting back then, we are light-years ahead in that aspect.
Get some good 3* players, you can still have a damned good defense.

True but the key is retaining that talent.

In the years where we did have good defenses we had teams filled with upper classmen.

Today by the time they learn the scheme and show potential, they are poached by other schools.

We lost a few players to the portal but....only two were significant and I think both were on the offensive line. Seth commented that based on their performance in the Liberty Bowl, the replacements on the offensive line met the challenge and he was not sacked one time by a Big 12 defensive. You can lose players but if you have depth and can replace them in the portal, the changes are not that significant. I think we came out good on portal transfers so far this year and gained more than what we lost. And....who was the poster that stated Roc Taylor had cleaned out his locker and had entered the portal?
