Barnes racked up a lot of wins and NCAA appearances at one of the wealthiest schools in the country (the real UT). And they even got tired of his March failures after a while. I think quite a few boosters soured on him after they had bought Kevin Durant (national player of the year) and he still took a 2nd round exit from the NCAA. Of course, he probably did his best coaching job the following year which bought him a few more seasons at UT. Until they ran into Cal's Tigers...

Louder for those in the back. He couldn't win with Kevin Durant. That team lost in 2nd round to a Tim Floyd coached USC team. Roster of unknown dudes - no OJ Mayo.

Only reason (EDIT: for someone else) to hire Barnes: he's in the club (so was Tubby) 03-puke

EDIT: NO reason for us to hire Barnes, ever. Penny > Barnes

We wouldn’t & couldn’t hire Rick Barnes; but that does not mean he hasn’t elevated UT’s program above Memphis’.

Season Team Overall Conference Standing Postseason
2015–16 Tennessee 15–19 6–12 12th
2016–17 Tennessee 16–16 8–10 T–9th
2017–18 Tennessee 26–9 13–5 T–1st NCAA Division I Round of 32
2018–19 Tennessee 31–6 15–3 T–2nd NCAA Division I Sweet 16
2019–20 Tennessee 17–14 9–9 T–8th Postseason cancelled due to COVID-19
2020–21 Tennessee 18–9 10–7 4th NCAA Division I Round of 64
2021–22 Tennessee 27–8 14–4 T–2nd NCAA Division I Round of 32
2022–23 Tennessee 25–11 11–7 T–4th NCAA Division I Sweet 16
2023–24 Tennessee 16–5 6–2
Tennessee: 188–97 (.660) 91–58 (.611)

And it ain't like the SEC is a juggernaut. Hell we are 4-1 in the SEC this year.

We’ve also played the 3 of the worst teams in the league who have a combined 3 wins in conference.

Barnes has 2 Sweet 16’s and stands to get a 1-4 seed again this year. Of course, he has the Tennessee program in a better position than Penny has Memphis.

For those interested, it's easy to become a Vowel fan. Just get a $15 t-shirt at Yall-Mart and watch the games on basic channels.

I'll stick with MEMPHIS! Best program in the state. No doubt! Go Tigers Go!!!

Being a Mensa acolyte, I assumed you would be smart enough to:
1) Understand I was not comparing Barnes to Penny in any way, shape or form
2) Understand I was simply pointing out Barnes is Barnes, before UT and since UT. He is who his is record (66% winning record and 50% in the NCAA) says he is.

RE: New beginning
Penny is 1-1 vs Rick Barnes. Would probably have been 2-1 if not for whatsisname's lack of COVID protocol.
