While 11-10 is nothing to shout about...
It does make us the only DI team in the State of Arkansas that is over .500. More importantly we are 5-3 in the OVC. Let's get a road win or two next week.

Good win. Our free throw shooting is going to lose some games down the stretch. They are definitely looking better.

Haven’t seen any OHIO VALLEY games, But I believe the move from the Sun Belt was like moving from a AA league to being in a A league in baseball. The idiot that approved that change should be tar and feathered. And if that clown who posed as an AD hadn’t resigned, he should have been in on the tar and feathering. No way OVC is as strong as the Sun Belt. Next stop should be the Great American Congress. with Henderson, Ouachita, Harding, and the rest of the old AIC conferences.

You are correct. The Sun Belt is a better league than the OVC. However, we didn't have a whole lot of choice since we were kicked out of the Belt (as was UTA) because we didn't have football. With regard to budgets, fan support, travel, and the lack of DI football we are a much better fit for the OVC. We are actually favored to win the league in baseball this year. Obviously, that would never have happened in the Sun Belt where a lot of the teams actually have true baseball "stadiums" and include a former National Champion. While Morehead State looks very good, I believe we will go into the OVC Basketball tournament with a reasonably good chance to win it. Wouldn't like our chance to win the Belt. But, both are one bid leagues and, if Morehead wins, they probably will get as good a seed as the Belt. All the other OVC teams would be 16 seeds, including us. Don't know if we would be as low as the play-in game, although I would prefer playing in that game since it gives us a chance to get a NCAA tournament win and a prime time national TV spot.
We will be getting new AD, in a couple of months, as George Lee is stepping down. He stepped into the position as an interim and it wasn't supposed to be long term. However, he did an amazing job keeping us afloat during Covid and I will always be appreciative for that. Hopefully we will hire an enthusiastic AD who can fund raise and bring some fans out to the Jack. I always wanted to be in the "best" conference that would have us, but I doubt we could have done any better, at this point, without football. In the long run, being in a conference that we can win, on a more regular basis is probably better with regard to drawing fans and, at least, some media attention than being a "mediocre" team in the Belt as you always pointed out that we were.

Bring on the OVC/Sunbelt Challenge. Would be fun and probably would surprise a lot of people. Gotta love those neutral courts.

Sun Belt would never agree. They are viewed as the better conference and wouldn't take a chance of losing. [/i]
