I am guessing like celebrities, most politicians spend a lot of time away from their spouses- often not even living in the same cities. Meanwhile they are spending long days and nights with others. Often alcohol is consumed at dinner parties, after hour events, etc.

Not that I am condoning infidelity, but this happens to many people outside politics as well. The only thing keep most people from doing it is opportunity.
