RE: 1GB going into Saturday
We are also getting killed because we aren’t beating teams by wide margins. The NET can be tracked by the spread, especially in wins. We beat Tulane by a wide margin and beat the spread by a wide margin, and lo and behold our NET shoots up. We have so many close wins against bad teams that are also contributing to our poor net.

Last I checked, we had a q4 loss to Ark state and a loss to q3 USM. Mcneese st probably stopped being a Q3 loss after they beat Michigan.

Those numbers are still correct, except the quadrants are reversed.

I feel like I can say I told you so when I said USM and Ark state weren’t good for the schedule. Knew Maryland had no business in the tournament last year, won like we should have. Also, knew USMs success was due to Sun belt move, easier conference. Ark state hasn’t had a pulse.
We dropped both.
Clemson being decent all of a sudden and our lack of success outside of the FAU game were the surprises for me.
I still don’t respect Mcneese state outside of Wells.

RE: 1GB going into Saturday
This team has had a lot of flaws and issues - coaching and players alike - but we still have a lot of raw talent, good pieces, and a lower case g good coach at the helm.
We should’ve started the season 3-0. We battled hard AF in damn near every game until we just flat out quit against McNeese (they’re good, yes, but we quit). Then we got flat out embarrassed against USM and Ark St. no way in hell we should’ve had that 3 game stretch, especially with how we started the year. That is an inexcusable embarrassment from the top down. A program like UAB and a supposedly big name coach like AK should ever be OK with that. That being said we’ve shown a lot of fight and shown a lot of positive things in the last 8 games. I like the coaching moves. Forcing Gaines to shoot less and taking him off primary ball handler duties for big stretches of games is a smart move. Vasquez is coming into his own. Coleman is improving. Butta is solid all around. JD is JD. Toney is Toney. Yax is a monster waiting to be fully unleashed once he learns to shed the doubts and ascends to being “the man.” EG is a weapon if used correctly, is pass-first and conservative, and not made to be a volume shooter.
My rambling way of saying that this has been a weird season, but I think this team still has a chance to do something big. At a minimum, we need to end the year on a high note and go into next year with a lot of momentum..

In addition to being undefeated when EG takes less than 10 shots…
EG has SEVEN games where has has more shot attempts than points. We are 2-5 in those games.
We are simply flat out a much better team when he is not taking a lot of shots.

I hope AK has figured that out Answer...benching him for a wide stretch in the second half was a big sign to me.

Me too. As much as I have ragged on EG, I agree that he is a weapon and a good player. He does do a lot of positive things on the court... I don't think he should be benched, but I think he needs to be used in other ways..
I just strongly feel that he is being misused if he's being told, or being allowed, to go out there and jack up shots and try to be our leading scorer. That's not who he is as a player. The numbers in terms of our wins and losses back that up too...
