I'm sure you remember reading in your history books about how long it would take to either take a train or a conestoga cross country, Right? So why is it that we've become so pampered that we don't want to pay discount rates to take the bus. I did that a lot when in the military and even though I'm 6'3" it wasn't THAT bad. It was all I could afford until I bought my first real car, (my first car used more oil than gasoline and top speed was 50 miles an hour) (a 50cc motor scooter goes faster). I was a teen and to the other teens I was blessed to even own a car.

People don't know how to inconvenience themselves anymore.

Jet planes use jet fuel. Jet planes carry people here and there wherever they want to go.

It’s not at all surprising this administration would put any of them out of business. This one was just an easy target.

When I was an aircraft refueler/firefighter we would refuel an airline called TransTexas Int'l. We would call it Teeter Totter because they were flying jet props. We had to get on the wing to refuel it, they didn't even have single point refueling.

Yep, since consolidation was happening either way. Unless you live in a pure fantasy world where you think the Jet Blue/Spirit merger wasn't going to result in a decrease in routes and decrease in competition with 1 of the budget carriers gone the cake was already baked.

That's logical. Stop this merger because "4....control roughly 80% of all flights in the US". With that logic Tesla should be broken up because they sell more EVs than all other carmakers combined, and those other carmakers are losing money. It's called capitalism. Of course, no one gets a tax rebate for flying a certain type of plane to increase the use of that air service.

If spirit doesn’t want to go bankrupt they could try being an actual decent airline instead of a complete dumpster fire.

Agree that there has been too much consolidation on the DL/AA/UA front. Would like to have NWA and CO back for 5 true full service mainline US airlines but we are stuck with what we got.

If this administration had its way it would bankrupt all the airlines. The elites in DC don't like regular folks being able to come and go as they can afford. The DC crowd wants more control over our lives. Cut rate airlines give too many opportunities to the peasants.

If it was left to the dems we would all be living in densely populated urban areas within walking or biking distance of anything we might need on a day to day basis. Mass transit would be our only means of transportation to other areas. They would social engineer us to death if they could, and they will if they get the chance.
