Let's Check In on the G-League
Emoni Bates is second in the G-League in Points Per Game at 27.3 and he's hitting like 50 percent of his 3s at that level.

Keep up the good work, Emoni!! Looking more and more like he is going to make it in the NBA. (g-league is still a step below, so I don’t consider it a success yet). What a road that guy has gone through.

RE: Let's Check In on the G-League
For all our complaints about the record of Coach Heath (and they are legit complaints), he is masterful of developing talents…

In 2021, coming out of East Carolina Noah Farrakhan could not get any interest out of the transfer portal, CoachHeath/EMU takes him in-> 2 years later he transfers up to WestVirginia/Big12.

In 2022, coming out of Memphis Emoni Bates was being questioned if he was even NBA level talent and comes to CoachHeath/EMU-> 1 year later gets drafted and play increasingly well in the summer then the g- league.

In 2022/23, when TyCuff comes to EMU from Duquesn where he was decent but not spectacular (nor was he in year 1 with CoachHeath/EMU)-> 1 year later he is one of the nation’s leading scorrs and looking bright for where he ends up next year.

I am not taking anything away from those players personal talent level or efforts, but those are 3 pretty significant success stories that CoachHeath and staff have a hand in. So any recruits out there looking for development, EMU is your best bet!!

Very good observations.

I'm still perplexed how last year's team wasn't a big winner. We had some stars.

Ramy, I love your enthusiasm! If the EMU SID job opens up, I would heartily recommend you for such.

Because the goal was to make Bates a NBA draft prospect not to win games as a team. Too many folks who wanted to be a star and only one basketball.

It's comes down to we have no floor general. Someone who sees the whole court feeds the right person at the right time. You can't Coach the team on the Court from the bench. We have two shooters and a front court. But no leadership on the floor. We haven't had one since Carlos Medlock.

Agree Heath really has not had a true floor general and point guard. I thought Lovejoy may fill that role someday.

Bates suspended by G League for 2 games for going up into the stands after a game. Cleveland organization released statement. More on this story to come.

The CLE coach has his back. Apparently the players were being harassed by fans.

JB Bickerstaff is a stand up guy. He would not have said this if he didnt believe it. I trust his judgement completely.

Yeah but isn't Emoni still on probation? Not saying the fans didn't deserve it but what would have happened if it gotten physical? You think someone would be advising him on such things. By the way while the coach defended him he didn't condone confronting fans either.

What game was he going after? Couldn't he afford to buy it at a store? 03-lmfao

RE: Let's Check In on the G-League
The G League is fun to watch and has been a great opportunity for my own growth with sports. This season, I've got five fill-in games as the PA announcer with the Motor City Cruise and done another two as the Arena Host like I did at EMU. I'll be back with the Cruise on February 1st and 6th if anyone wants to check out a game. I usually can swing a few tickets. Plus..... The 1st is Teacher appreciation night.

RE: Let's Check In on the G-League
I have been searching for more info across the internet.

Best I can guess is that what the fans were doing was pretty bad. Gleaned from Bickerstaff's comment.

I assume the TWO players went into the stands to scare or confront the fans, but that was it.

RE: Let's Check In on the G-League
I saw a longer video of the broadcast on YouTube last night, but can no longer find it in search. In the longer clip of the broadcast, it cuts away at the same time this video does and show the handshake line. Which according to some of the articles I read, Emoni Bates joined as directed by one of the coaching staff. So could not have gotten too much further into the stands- I am assuming we went into the “court side seating” rather then the “stands”.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=coUKDKvzLCM

Really a non issue, especially as Bickerstaff is siding with Emoni Bates over the league. Regardless, this is definitely another highly unfortunate headline for him. It must be hard to be Emoni Bates, people feel they can say whatever they want to him (and in this case his family/mother too). But would be best if he can avoid getting “Bated” into responding- which is easier said then done.
