"Massive layoffs are coming" in 2024
Newsweek Survey of 900 companies says 4 in 10 are planning layoffs -- citing the coming recession. And more than half are freezing hires.

Can’t O’Biden just print more Money? Tinker with Rates and keep this magnificent economy humming?

If the economy tanks who is going to hire all the illegal “dreamers”?

Self fulfilling prophecy…

“We think there maybe/could be a recession coming!”

So, let’s layoff a bunch of people and make damn sure of it.

Ehhhh---there is a little more to it than that. Companies do have some foward visibility. They can see they dont have many orders coming in and they can see they have worked off any back log of production they may have been carrying----so they know their labor needs are about to fall off substantially unless something changes radically. Its not just a wild azz guess. Typically---especially in this labor market---an employer will be averse to getting rid of trained employees now that decent workers have become more difficult to replace. First they cut hours rather than lay people off---and thats exactly what we have been seeing in the labor stats as the average number of hours worked has been falling steadily. Employers will try to hang on to employees in the hopes things turn around. Thats basically where a lot of employers have been for the last few months....but eventually they have to cut costs if things dont look like they are turning around soon. You saw that in the mortgage industry over much of 2022 and 2023.

where's the spending power when the majority in %pop are spending to merely survive whilst leaving the 'abonnement' in the dust ... there's a benefit to viewing from the lens within the 'sip...

the south is now simply playing 'ketchup' (ol' joke)...

rubber's gonna meet the row-add ... it's simply a matter of when based on overspending...

Yup. Consumers are using debt and credit cards to try to maintain their living standard. Interestingly, credit card companies are becoming VERY concerned over the explosion of "buy now--pay later" apps that have allowed consumers to effectively stack up additional short term debt that isnt easily tracked. Credit card companies are concerned that the heavy use of these "buy now-pay later" services over the Christmas holidays will result in a financial 2024 "hangover" that bumps already high credit card delinquency rates even higher.

I’ve worked in the retail/sales industry for decades. Most retail outlets are running bare minimum staff alf many didn’t hire seasonal employees

went from privately owned --->>> YRK --->>> JCI .... never looked back after JCI ... they're still there ... however, I would've become one of the mid-level's biting their nails today .... it's almost been 18 yrs. now when the finga-bang and retribution was fully engaged...

the point is, when one isn't the pimple on the arse, "what if" is always in the back of the mind..,.

I miss it for nothing ... not a fk'n thingy....

should've started what I do now straight out of the gate,,...
