Telling quote in today’s pre game article from one of our veteran player’s .
“ I think K.D. is doing a good job of working with what he’s got”.

Other interesting tidbits from the article.
“The undersized Monarchs”. No kidding.

ODU is allowing 78 points per game and allowing opponents to shoot 48% .

In regards to Jeff Jones. “At this point there , no, there is no news to share about any type of timeline “, Donohue said…. And then we’ll see where that leads down the road.

I follow Greg Peterson, who handicaps games, and typically can move the market with some of his lines and bets. He has this game tonight as Ga State -10.5. While Vegas has it at -5.5 one of the sharpest handicappers has the game at -10.5....against the 191st ranked team by Kenpom. This is so disgusting. We reach new lows daily.

As mentioned before, size is more than height. Frank was a big dude. Gerald Lee was athletic, and put on a ton of muscle by his junior year. Keyon Carter was the strongest player on the team.

Add guards like Neely and Bazemore, and G/F Finney, it was a physically imposing team, just the opposite of what we have now.

And the worst part is that it was all completely preventable. We could and should have made a change 2 years ago and DEFINITELY at the end of last season. We all have watched the trend; we've seen the writing on the wall for some time. Everyone knew this roster was not well constructed. Everyone knew we have performed pitifully when it matters for the last 4 years.

Nope. Instead, we let ol' Wood (with our esteemed clueless BOV and school admin) wait until another program is completely decimated before begrudgingly making a change.

It is almost criminal.

I am so on the side of conservative when it comes to firing coaches, but you are 100% correct here. Why does it have to get SO bad for them to make a move? I get it with Blaine. The guy won a few conference championships, and brought some excitement to the program by making the NCAA Tournament as well as some NIT's. I just don't understand the logic in bringing him back after last season. I am so confused, and I know for a fact it wasn't because of the buyout. Wild stuff.

I share your general conservatism. I was glad we gave Bobby a longer leash (although, he also should have been let go a year or two before he was). I was more ok giving Jeff a chance than many here. But after years of declining results and a disgusting streak of first round tournament exits, it's like "what are we even doing here?"

Do we even want to win? Field a competitive program? What happened to championship standards or whatever the BS that Wood has shoveled since he's been here?

Please enlighten us more with what wild stuff happened for him to keep his job. . . . Any insight on when a decision on JJ's future will be made?

Our newest episode of the basketball show is out. In this one, we talk with Chaunce and Vasean. It's a good one where you can learn a little more about each guy:

I don't have any insight as to why he was brought back, but I was told it was not because of the buyout. To me, that seems like they had full confidence in Jeff to make it work this year.

I also have no insight as to when a decision will be made. I think they will wait to see how the medical side of things shakes out. Once they get some clarity about that I am sure they will then evaluate the standing of the program, and make a decision.

I like the matchup vs. Georgia State to be honest. Not that I think we will win, but I think there is a path to being competitive.

I was just having some fun. We don't have to be miserable at all times because of the team.

The sucky part is we have some promising freshman that will develop into good players (Allette and Pounds). Ceaser and Baker have the potential to develop into productive role players. We have a top 30 class coming in so the pieces are there to get back to where we were. If we could have just had a decent year and kept things together, next year would have been very promising. But, we couldn't manage to put a productive product on the court this year and that may end up being a total rebuild. And the only way I can think of to keep the pieces in place would be to hire someone that is totally unqualified for the job.

I have slowed down gambling wise, but I use to be all over it. Im not familiar with Greg Peterson, but I find the vocal gambling community to be 99% full of crap.

Please enlighten us more with what wild stuff happened for him to keep his job. . . . Any insight on when a decision on JJ's future will be made?

I don't have any insight as to why he was brought back, but I was told it was not because of the buyout. To me, that seems like they had full confidence in Jeff to make it work this year.

I also have no insight as to when a decision will be made. I think they will wait to see how the medical side of things shakes out. Once they get some clarity about that I am sure they will then evaluate the standing of the program, and make a decision.

As scary as that is, I think people are ready for that. I know I am.

I get it with Blaine. The guy won a few conference championships, and brought some excitement to the program by making the NCAA Tournament as well as some NIT's. I just don't understand the logic in bringing him back after last season. I am so confused, and I know for a fact it wasn't because of the buyout. Wild stuff.

At least on this board, that seems to be the majority.

You hit the nail on the head. On this board. That is why I said what I said a while back. There are still people out there that want Jeff to be the coach. That is not an opinion.
