RE: WAC MEN’S BASKETBALL WEEK #10
I'd say in either sport, the CBU/GCU travel partner is the toughest in the conference. No shame in getting beat there.
Who had UTA and UTRGV going 2-0 and UVU and SU going 0-2 this week on their bingo card?

I'm sure those "experts had a similar win percentage for UVU and Seattle.
UTA is 7-1 at home and 0-8 on the road. That's the only saving grace. Still wouldn't put it anywhere near 85 percent.
The Mavs one loss was to Texas State, which shouldn't have been a loss at all, so there's that.

I think UTRGV is potentially in the upper part of the WAC. They have some fine athletes

Potentially, but then that's true of all teams. In the last update to the WAC resume system that determines who gets into the conference tournament, we are dead last by a good margin. But they haven't counted last night's games yet, in which we won and SUU lost, so we may be roughly tied for last now.

RE: WAC MEN’S BASKETBALL WEEK #10
The main thing I've seen with the resume system is that home losses hurt way more than home wins help. Don't get me wrong, I'll take the performance UTA had, and I'm sure that's true for you guys in the Rio Grande Valley. But that loss will help. A point and a third won't be made up in one week, but it'll likely be within a point and maybe down to .75.
EDIT: UTRGV gained .43 points for a road win against A&M-CC, but lost .76 points for the home loss to the same team.
The standings matter from the regular season to get in the conference tourney, but the seeds are determined by the seeding system.

Thanks, I keep forgetting that. As of today, the team we need to jump past to make the tournament is....you.

Sometimes I get tired of all the basketball talk.
Are any of you interested in the arts, like early 20th century American painters? The one below is by Olaf Seltzer, hangs in the Gilcrease Museum.
Don't know why like this one so much. Just a simple painting of some vaqueros roping a maverick.

If GCU wins out but loses in the conference tournament final, would they get an at-large bid to the NCAA?

There's a possibility, but highly unlikely. In 2017, UTA was sitting in the upper 40's in RPI, but lost to Texas STate badly in the conference semi's.
If GCU makes it to the Finals and loses a very close game to the next best team, I'd put their chances at one out of three.

Of course a B12 or ACC team sitting at NET 40 would be virtually certain of getting at an at-large.
Which makes one wonder why we all look at it. It appears it doesn't actually decide much of anything.

RE: WAC MEN’S BASKETBALL WEEK #10
They tweek the system every time there's a non-P5 that climbs the ladder. After San Diego St and Florida Atlantic both made Final 4's last year, I'd imagine something is in the pipes.
NET was made when RPI was deemed too one-dimensional. But the knock on the non-P5's is they don't play anyone early, but still get the reward in the rankings. But looking at the P5 schedules, they don't play anyone in non-conference on the road, play one or two other P5's at a neutral site and half a dozen or more guarantee games. Yet somehow the NET rewards that.
In baseball they get it right. The RPI gives a road win at 1.3, but a home win against the same team at .7. Of course, that only happened because the Big 10 has to play their first month plus on the road due to weather. There's no similar pressure to get the NET like this.
