Chicago State at California Baptist
The Cougars visit Riverside for a second former WAC opponent of the season. CBU is 7-4, but has lost 3 of 4. They last played December 19, in a 3 point home loss to Western Kentucky.

Earlier, they lost by 21 on the road at Oregon (8-3, 71 NET). They also lost to Utah Tech at home, who is 5-7, and 234 NET.

The Lancers have only won 1 game since November 29, and that was a 1 point win over UC Riverside (3-7, NET 257). Their play has been streaky at times lately. They are beatable.

The last time the teams met was in WAC play in 2022, with each team winning on its home court.

Cardet is hot early. That always helps.

Decent start. Offense seems to be running pretty well. Few fouls on CSU. Just need to hit the boards better and do the best they can defending their big men.

Edit- little bit of poor play at the end of the first. I’d really like to see the offense move the ball a little better and work to get some better looks.

Rebounding is going to have to improve to win this game though. CBU has had way too many looks.

Here’s the box score. Not having Noble Crawford really hurt in this game. He’s been a consistent scoring threat from outside that Chicago State could have really taken advantage of in this game.

Cardet had 6 turnovers, but shot well from the floor this time out. Corbet had a really good game and hit the 20 point mark as well. But without Crawford in the game, it looks like no one else really stepped up and even took many shots.

Turnovers were not a big issue, but offensive rebounding wasn’t good. The margin was about 9 more for Cal Bap, but probably 4-5 of those were just on a couple possessions where they missed a shot and they kept missing and getting rebounds.
