It was combination of the Tyler Cochran show, and barn ball at the same time.

Yeah but they were in the same barn. I thought it a good team effort, regardless the high scoring by Cochran. I enjoy watching the second line players, they all bring something.

Great game for the most part but he made some costly turnovers.

That was quite a game with some huge runs from both teams! Congrats to TK on his 400th career win!

Gonna need to take some heart pills or a couple of shots before games the rest of the season. Sure to be fun and maybe a bit nerve wracking as we go.

RE: Toledo vs. Marshall - 7:00 - ESPN+
For fans who like a lot of offense, this was your type of game! Up and down the court for both teams combined with the Refs letting them play resulted in a very entertaining game. Defense was optional tonight as both teams went on double digit runs throughout the game with Marshall’s last haymaker coming up 1 missed basket short. 175 points, 39 Assists, 22 Three Pointers, and only 19 Turnovers between the teams. The story of the game – T. Cochran who poured in 33 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals which Toledo needed every one of. As I pointed out after last game, he tends to force things including trying to throw a full court out of bounds pass against the press in the last 30 seconds that resulted in a live ball turnover in which Marshall hit a 3 point shot to close it to one with under 20 seconds left. But like I said before, you cannot fault his overall effort on both ends of the court. Hopefully, the Rockets learned a valuable lesson that you can’t let up against good competition or you will find yourself in a nail biter like what happened tonight!

After watching the game 2x, I’d like to know what contributions does Wilson make to keep putting him back in the game. Threw the ball away a couple of times, kicked the ball under the basket, and scored 0 points. Play the other two freshman guards. Can’t be any less productive than Wilson.

wilson had a bad game. he does make fewer defensive mistakes than the other freshmen. Lorentsson is the next best guy but he's inconsistent. and probably more than anything UT spent several years recruiting Wilson, building relationships with his family and priming him to be the next successful pg at UT. Ford was a late fall through the cracks recruit who I like a lot. He's the best pure shooter on the team and moves well on both ends. nither he or Wilson is playing with a lot of confidence. While Lewis had a stretch of a few games early where he played well he has struggled a bit lately. Brcic is playing pretty well but TK's not gonna play he and simmons together much this year (maybe next as their games evolve). if any of the bench guys turn it up as the season goes on and Wilson continues to struggle we will see some minutes move around, but Wilson is gonna have to get beat out.

These Freshman are playing next to some VERY experienced D1 guards. And they're playing against experienced guards. They're going to pale a bit on comparison. I like the effort and skills from all of them. I trust our guards and coaches to get each of the newer kids to expectations, which are high. The track record of guards on the team and the conference is the hardest to deny.

It's true that TK is heavily invested in Wilson but I hope not to the detriment of others. I like what I have seen of Ford and Lewis, especially Lewis and I hope their minutes increase as the season progresses. Of course, Kowalczyk and his staff sees a lot more of the players performances day in and day out than any of us so we have to trust their judgement.

Wight is a huge disappointment - no minutes against Marshall!?!

It sure would be nice to have a true veteran point guard.

Ford had 9 minutes with 0 points, 2 boards and an assist. Lewis with 6 minutes, 0 points, 1 board and 2 fouls. Wilson had 30 minutes, 0-6 from the field (0-1 from 3), 2 boards, 2 assists, and 2 TOs. Not good numbers for a starter.

We were outscored 48-40 in the second half. I don't think they should be happy about that. The didn't play smart or with the same intensity in the second half, IMO.

On to 8-3 Vermont. Wins over Charleston, St. Louis, Dartmouth, Yale, Northeastern. Losses to Bradley, Colgate, Liberty. Looks like they go 9 or 10 deep with balanced scoring. 4 guys in double digits and a couple at 8 per game.

Vermonts NET in the 130s. WVUs in the 190s. We should win both based on our current NET.

Thanks. This schedule is tough, but will play dividends down the road. Same with the close games. As long as they continue to improve, it should be interesting by the end of the year.

I thought the rebounding was better last night and they did out board Marshall. Simmons seems to improve every game, but his rebounding needs to get better. I love his post up game. That's where I think they messed up last night. Late in the game, with a lead, run a half court offense and get the ball to Simmons on the low block. Let him post the guy up. He's been pretty much money so far when he does that. That's how you put the game away.

Vermont is good. W Virginia ranking is deceptive as they didn't have some key players the first 7 or 8 games and we will get the full strength version of their roster. Bigger taller squad so will be a challenge with this short stocky rockets group

Our guards helped out big time last night on the boards with Moss leading the way with 12 rebounds. With Simmons our only true post player getting a lot of minutes, it is going to be up to our guards to help out on the glass to eliminate second chance baskets and for us to get out on the break which is our bread and butter right now. As for Simmons offensively last night, he was being double teamed in the post a lot of the game which I think is going to happen more frequently now with teams seeing him on tape. I agree, we need to find ways to get Simmons the ball in the low post during crunch time. The one time he did get it in the last minute or two, he took it strong to the hoop for two points. Having a low post presence now is a luxury we have not had in several years so the coaches need to figure out how to take advantage of it.
