'79, TON of good stuff in those reports and attachments.

Oestrike is certainly a dump that has suffered from years of neglect. The $1M renovation has yet to be funded, unlike track and field. There was a time long ago when a minor league baseball team looked at the facility but the prohibition of alcohol sales on college campuses at the time scuttled the deal.

I LOVE EMU baseball, the only reason I attended Eastern, was the partial scholarship offered by the great Oak that ended with a shoulder injury. That said, northern baseball has become so insignificant in today's world, do we really need to invest such a small sum, or should we just get the hell out? Welch, Owchinko, Sheridan, Gulliver, etc... are not coming here anymore. $1M after so many years, is not going to change that.

I agree that baseball in the north is definitely a struggle but the program has still produced MLB players in recent years. 5 drafted in the last 5 years. One of my seniors on my team just committed to EMU. 1 million may not make a huge dent into their needs, but getting an indoor batting cage is a good first step.

I was unaware about the draft picks, thanks for bringing me up to date. We also have a new coach that our AD selected, instead of an interim one that we merely allowed to continue in his position.

We can talk about our rich history in T&F and our NCAA appearances in basketball. BUT the greatest national impact in NCAA sports EMU has had is in baseball. SECOND IN THE NATION IN 1976! In 56 freaking years only ONE other foul weather state university (U-M 2019) has achieved such. Astounding, to say the least!
