I wish Finn the best. But I’m glad to see Gleason get a shot or Richter. Finn will be the best mobile qb I’ve ever seen in midnight blue and gold. He left his mark. I hope he gets a shot in the nfl

2 in the portal, who else now ? Could be a rebuilding year. After Gleason, need to establish a good backup QB. I am hoping Peny returns.

A rebuilding year because a few guys are in the portal? Last year there were about 1,300 (Link) undergrad transfers (so add more for graduate transfers) from FBS schools. That is about 10 players leaving per school. And this year looks to be record breaking.

DQ choosing the portal is a long term positive for this roster. We now have four weeks where Tucker Gleason will be the unquestioned starter and can prepare for the bowl game.

John Alan Richter is a very exciting talent and very capable backup (based on film). Toledo is going to be just fine at QB especially with the incoming HS talent.

I think DQ's destined to be a back-up at a P5 school. We will go somewhere and compete but his inability to throw the ball consistently on time and on target is going to hinder his ability to be a starter.

Agree on all of this. Good analysis of the situation especially as we go forward, I for one will enjoy seeing Tucker have the reigns for a whole game.

Finn needs to build up his body and become Tayson Hill. That is his role at the next level if there is one. Or go to Canada where the wide field plays better for his speed like another former Rocket we all know.

Lets remember also that the number of starting QBs that jumped in the portal is tremendous. This is the new reality

wishing him the best of luck..I have seen rankings of all the QBs now in the portal and Finn does not appear in top 10..so really hard to say where he would end up--perhaps at a lower level tier P5 school??

I'm guessing from his perspective "you're young once", so why not. He probably feels like there is not much else to do for him in Toledo. Back to back MAC Title appearances, awards, etc. Why not test the waters and see if a unique opportunity exits? Just because he went into the portal, doesn't mean he will remain in the portal. My opinion is that he has pretty much hit his potential. I don't see a major Power 5 picking him up, but I wish him luck. Again, you're only young once, why not.

Also should not be a surprise as there was speculation this time last year that he might jump into portal..and I agree it's likely he came back for chance at MACC and POY-and figures he has now reached peak at UT with those achievements so decided to take chance at opportunity elsewhere..

That alone should be comforting to anyone looking for a job in a sports related field. Just throw an idiotic comment like that out there and you get paid without fear of being fired. 247 Sports just ruined its credibility, but I suppose they got clicks to read the story behind the ridiculous claim they made about where Finn would rank among those other 2 QB's. Candle would wet himself if McCord showed interest in coming to Toledo. And I highly doubt Day will be giving Finn a call.
