Butch Jones is a good coach, offensive minded. If they have a good QB, they will be a challenge.

The best bowl a 6-6 Huskies can ask for. Gives us time to get healthy. And get some nice reps and practice for our up a comers. I like our chances.

Agree. This will be a good game with the Huskies having a good chance of winning.

The history is not lost on us in Jonesboro that we began our first major run of bowls playing you guys in Mobile 12 years ago. (I Was there!) Albeit both our teams were good then. We start what many of us hope is a 2nd streak of bowls playing you guys again in Alabama, but this time with much more mediocre rosters.

We truly are made for each other, same color scheme, same period of rising and falling, still in the same conferences we've been in forever despite realignment around us.

Hopefully this game is at least closer than the blowout our last meeting was.

We're happy with our QB situation, even if we recognize he's young. He probably runs more than he passes. Teams that have struggled with us this year are tams who have struggled with mobile QB's. If you are good at stopping those, we're easy to beat.

If I were going (I am not), I would 100% drive it. You can pay for gas, anything you need for the ride, and hotel accommodations for what you'd pay for the airline ticket.

But I like to drive long distances.

Wish NIU ended up in Charlotte or Myrtle Beach (4, 1.5 hours from my house). 7 hour drive to Alabama is tempting though...

Seems winnable, hope the NIU team that beat Boston College shows up, not the team with the fumble happy QB.

RE: 2023 Camellia Bowl - NIU vs Arkansas St
Under the established rules of the CFP selection committee you cannot consider anything from Arkansas State's first two games against Oklahoma and Memphis because our Colorado transfer QB got hurt and never returned. Only the last ten games can be evaluated.

ESPN FPI puts it 53-47 for NIU, latest line has AState by 1.5. Seems like a consensus that it's a close well matched game.

Red Wolves have been all over the place. Lost to Coastal Carolina by 10 in a frustration fest that saw AState have 11 points taken off the board via penalty (two TD's but one ended up producing a FG). Couldn't string things together vs South Alabama and then starting center had emergency surgery night before Marshall game and line was garbage. Won big vs TXST running the ball down their throat but had 19 minutes that the offense wasn't on the field and A-State outscored them 28-7 with a scoop and score, two pick sixes, and kickoff return TD so a bit deceiving how the game went. Looked like had Southern Miss in hand, looked like we were blowing it, then rallied to win.

We aren't predictable.

Neither are we. We scored 55 against Akron but 11 against FCS SIU (though they were a FCS playoff team). Beat Boston College but lost to Tulsa (at home). We shut out WMU 24-0 but barely beat the worst FBS team in Kent State. We beat a solid 9-3 Ohio team but lost to 4-8 Ball State. We couldn't be any more Jekyll and Hyde.

Well our bowl isn’t ranked last!

Yahoo:
37. Camellia Bowl

CBS:
30. Camellia Bowl

There are 41 bowl games.

My understanding is that Bowl Games DO NOT COUNT against the 4-game redshirt rule this year. Do we think that Justin Lynch will get some playing time in the upcoming bowl game? Might be a good preview of what Coach is thinking for next year????/

Javante Mackey, LB, second leading tackler. Already drawn an offer from South Carolina. Interesting if he goes there. WR Corey Rucker transferred there, scored a 70+ yard TD on first catch, got hurt and came back to A-State telling anyone that would listen that P5 ain't the promised land.

I feel like someone is putting two Coke cans and one was given a spin in a paint mixer and one of us is pulling the wrong can in Montgomery.

Our defense has been a bright spot but we had trouble with running QBs.
