Wrobo for bowl coach?
Cignetti is no longer employed by JMU. He needs to gather his belongings and give back his keys. This is not being bitter. When I leave a company and am employed by another I no longer represent my old company. They remove all of my credentials.

It serves no purpose for Cignetti to be around the FB facilities any longer.

JMU needs to win its first Bowl game and that needs to be the focus now we have a full year for bickering but only a few days to plan for the game... atleast that is my personal opinion. Go Dukes!!

I think there are many more reasons to let Cig, and his staff coach this game. Let’s not shot ourselves in the foot. Let the new coach evaluate, recruit and assemble his staff in the next week or two.

This is the right call. Cig can wait another couple of years for his first bowl game.

Go Dukes!

How much do you want to bet on this?

Bet on what? JB has already said Cig will coach the bowl game. IU has agreed to let Cig coach. McCloud said he will play. There’s nothing to bet on. Take off the tinfoil hat.

Tinfoil hat, huh?

This announcement lifted my spirits some. Happy for Wrobo, even if it’s just this one game. Altman tweeted (X’d?) he was ready to run through a brick wall…. 04-cheers

RE: Wrobo for bowl coach?
Correct decision after Cig basically said he would put little effort in the game and it was " still being discussed". In retrospect I would imagine some respect has been lost between interested parties. Just a guess looking from three outside in, but when two leaders make vastly different statements, subsequent conversations behind doors don't go well.

If Wrobo can gather up the pieces and put together a competitive squad and lead us to our first bowl game win...just hire him as HC. It will be a dream come true for Worbo and may stick around for several years....just saying!

RE: Wrobo for bowl coach?
Don’t shame me if this is a very dumb question, but I am uninformed- would Wrobo get a temporary boost in pay for the interim gig as we prepare for the bowl?

Why not. If he has been handed the responsibility to win our first Bowl then absolutely he deserves an incentive, we just got $1.2M from Cig buyout surely we can give Wrobo a little boost from that chunk of money. Why not?

In the past, I believe we have paid the interims a bonus to stick around. I hope he is also on the new staff as his O lines at JMU have been consistently strong.

RE: Wrobo for bowl coach?
Just a thought but Wrobo is probably sticking around JMU and didnt go to IU because his son is battling brain cancer. Cignetti always spoke highly of him and I'm sure he son having his treatments at the same hospital the last few years and well as his friends in school are the main reasons he stayed

Would absolutely love for him to get this win

Absolute right decision for Cig not to coach the bowl. And I think it shows a little immaturity on the part of our program that it was ever discussed.

Thanks. That’s what I figured, and that seems right. I have simply never seen the numbers. Also, is John Miller still officially at JMU? I have not seen his name as one who is leaving, not yet anyway.

I agree. At least name him interim coach for a year and see what he can do. He seems to really want it. That alone is worth a whole lot.
