Geez.
Some people feed off of the attention. As for me, I try not to bring any added attention to those.
It was an exceptional comeback. It's odd that on one hand I wish I had stayed until the end, and yet I am strangely satisfied that I left at the half; and that had nothing to do with the weather. I did learn that this years Monarchs are tougher than I thought. They hadn't given up, as I had thought. I suppose my biggest take away from the game is an affirmation of why I love sports so much. As much as I think I know what is going on out there on the field, or court, the team is an entity unto itself, which can rise above all odds, and accomplish the seemingly impossible. That is a beautiful thing!

This team literally teeters on a plank every week - whatever way the wind decides to blow ultimately decides their fate. If the wind decided to blow more in the loss column this year, I doubt youd be talking about how much of a successful season it has been. If this team remains virtually the same in 2024 roster/coach wise, trust me, the luck/horseshoe will eventually fade away. They cannot continue to win games walking on a virtual plank and letting the wind decide which way they fall.
They lack the talent in certain areas to make up for the luck/make up for the constant teetering they decide to do. This team still makes me very uncomfortable with the way its constructed. And it still needs to change. Once again, dont let the win totals fool you with the roster/coaching flaws that it CLEARLY has.
I think we all recognize that the team has clear flaws. None of us are content with 6-6; however, that's not really what's important right now. We were fairly terrible last year, and flipping such a team into a contender doesnt (usually) happen overnight. However, we have made great strides from last year's woeful and often embarrassing performance. Instead I'd argue this might be Rahne's best *overall* team yet. Bowl eligible on perhaps the hardest schedule the football Monarchs have ever had.
The performance this season wasn't shameful at all. We have something solid here we can build from, and our guys have accomplished some significant things. I celebrate that. Palpable forward progress.
Yes, I agree. They can build off this season for sure. Will they do it though? Time will tell. Moves need to be made badly still. This team also needs to learn how to win big. Teams have to grow from winning close to winning big. All of those games that they blew this year- they have to turn those blown losses into wins next year.
If they regress in 2024 and go back to 2-3 win team, then what are the fans going to say? We have a good springboard for 2023. We need to capitalize off of it. There is no reason not to.
I will agree that we aren't where we want to be. But it's definitely a step in the right direction. When you consider last year's mess, and the talent that we lost, I hoped we would win 3 games and thought that might be a stretch.
But we are going Bowling. Coach Rahne did a whale of a job getting this group here.
Let's hope we can keep the core of this team together and shore up our lines through the portal. If so, we could be SBC Championship material.
Once again, I don't know how many blowout wins we can expect to get in the SBC East. It's a tough conference.
Yes. We have some good core players with Jones, Wicks, Wilson, James. We need to keep them around and build a good supporting cast around them. We need to fortify our lines of scrimmage badly. If we do that, this team could be dangerous next year.
I do not try to damper this teams 6 wins success. Its a great accomplishment. However, our fans need to stay grounded because we should still be building our program up. The process is not finished with this years bowl game appearance.

Yeah I wish people would just stop engaging with him. You're playing his game by getting caught up in his misery spiral. The only winning move is not to play.

ummm...that is totally unfair. Coach Prime took a 1 win in the last 2 season team, totally changed the culture and roster, plays in a much tougher conference, and raised close to $60M for the Buffs. When RR does that then fair enough.

How about this comparison? Bobby Wilder, one bowl season in 5 years of non-transitioning FBS. Ricky 2 bowls in 3 years.

I agree our glaring holes are at OL & DL. We can be a problem if we address the trenches.

Can't argue with that. That's what we are shooting for every year.

Agreed. For where we are now, a bowl game is great. Where we want to be is winning seasons. And not just 7-5. For contrast, Marshall just finished 6-6 (and beat us), is going to a bowl, and their fans want Coach Huff fired so bad the school had to issue a statement and said they will retain him, but expect better.

Didn’t RR also take over a 1 win team, in an equally competitive conference (not saying equal in overall quality)? What Prime did with FCS resources is far more impressive.
6-6 should be our basement most years barring the unforeseen.
I've always believed inconsistency was a trade mark of a young team, along with silly undisciplined penalties.
We got our share and then some of both this year. Now let's see what RR can do to build on this years success. If we don't see significant progress next fall, the writing will be on the wall. OTOH, I expect to see vastly improved performance. This is a very young team with lots of room for growth. Time will tell.
Navigating the portal and dealing with the collective are 2 new wrinkles to judge HCs by. Hope RR is up to the task.

That statement from their AD seems like a crowd pleaser with no weights attached to me. Their AD is probably not as numb skulled as Woody is and no sane AD does what Wood did with BlahBlah Wilder.

Here is another bit of apples to oranges to this comparison. Deionized Sanders is, and has always been a bit of a hype man. The man speaks and the sports media gobbles up and transmits every aspect of his coaching, football culture, etc. etc. through their magaphone. All of that is fair enough, as I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a large portion of the attention he garners, but it did and does give him an outsized influence on highly rated recruits which mere mortal coaches do not begin to approach.

I'll admit it...
Right! I was looking over our opponents season results. The FCS team we barely escaped ended the season with only 1 victory.
You wouldn't be talking about the team from Commerce, Texas - would you? The team we beat only because they did not convert on the two point conversion attempt going for the win? The team from the school previously known as East Texas State Univerity? The team known as Big Blue and whose mascot is a Lion? The team for which I rooted at every game over the four year period from 1964 through 1967? Is that the team you are talking about?

Amazing how Coach Prime and the Buffs season changed after the Oregon thrashing. An epic pregame speech helped spark that downswing.
