When you play good defense, you have to get the rebound. So far NKU is getting the rebounds when they don't make shots.

By far our best defender, and almost certainly our best perimeter defender in at least a decade IMO.

Oguama has really struggled today. That Dan Skillings (who I'd argue is one of our three best players) comes in for him makes Ody look worse than he is. I expect Skillings will take Ody's starting spot fairly soon.

We've run such great offense against the matchup zone today. Getting anything we want.

Feels like a concerted effort by CWM to rest Newman most of the 2nd half. Save those minutes for conference play.

I predict Josh Reed wins us a game or two this season with a gritty 8-12 point performance

As I see it, we have our clear best 3 players: Vik, Skillings and Newman (in no particular order), plus PG, backup PG and backup big man. Reed isn't taking minutes from any of those guys.

What's left is CJ and Simas, who have been solid but not spectacular. Plus they seem to struggle on the floor together, mostly because neither is that good at creating off the dribble. They may be the two most negatively impacted by the lack of Aziz/Jamille. Rather than play inside out - with CJ and Simas spreading the floor as sharpshooters - we are playing off the drive and most of the drivers aren't great passers. I'm sure that is being worked on and will improve - though if Skillings becomes a great passer too, he probably goes to the NBA early, so be careful what you wish for.

While CJ and Simas are going to be better on offense with the ability to make quick and correct passes, even when not getting up shots. It does mean there could be space for Reed, but he needs to defend, rebound and be physical at a high level (or at least a significantly higher level than Simas). So far he hasn't managed that (except against Detrioit Mercy), which makes it likely his minutes are going to go down, not up.
