RE: Babers out @ Syracuse
Playing @ Syracuse next year so perfect timing as far as I'm concerned after Babers beat us pretty good in Athens.

After watching the Florida game last night, I figured Napier would be announced first.

Napier might do well in Syracuse. 7 or 8 wins per year would be welcome there.

Bruce Feldman mentioning the Toledo and JMU coaches as possible replacements, as well as several NFL assistants including Doug Marrone and Bill O’Brien.

Babers is a good coach. Syracuse is a hard job to won’t at. There were moments where I really thought Babers could get the Orange turned around…. but the team just always seemed to fade as the season progressed

Al Golden should also be a target. He did well at Temple, has strong NE ties and has done wonders with ND's defense.

UF is on their way to their 3rd losing season in a row. Yikes.

Hmm, might be in the mention for the SDSU job as he is a local boy, grew up here. Perhaps bring him in with Zach Arnett as his DC? I'm sure I'm dreaming a bit but Arnett coached here before going to Miss St as DC then HC. Babers did hire Arnett's mentor, Rocky Long, before this season.

That's a good-un. What about James Madison's Curt Cignetti? He was also an assistant under Nick Saban at Bama.

RE: Babers out @ Syracuse
Bowling Green fans felt Dino Babers wasn't much of a recruiter, that he won with the players he inherited from Dave Clawson and then moved on before the stuff hit the fan. This is perhaps an oversimplification. In retrospect, part of the reason Falcon football collapsed after Babers left was because the next guy, Mike Jinks, was astonishingly awful at coaching football.
(One example: Jinks' first quarterback was a coveted recruit named James Morgan, but Jinks was so unable to coax strong performance out of Morgan that he eventually benched him. Morgan transferred to Florida International, where he thrived to the point where he earned a fourth-round draft pick from the New York Jets.)
Still, I wonder if Syracuse fans have a similar take. Did Babers struggle to lure elite talent to the gray skies of Central New York? Was that a key issue? Or no?

The Holy Cross coach is a option for them. He's good but that would be a "cheap" hire.
