Should New Mexico St be considered for the NY bowl ?
New Mexico St whipped Auburn at Auburn and are now 9-3, If they win CUSA and finish 11-3shouldn’t they be a contender for the G5 NY6 bowl?
Opinions?

If 13-0 Liberty is getting no media love, 11-3 NMSU won't either. I think it is impossible for the MAC champ to fall below NMSU, even if both Toledo and Miami lose this coming week.

It is. They also lost to UMass and Hawaii, two (other, perennial) cellar dwellers. The MAC teams, combined, lost to Miami(FL) and Illinois, both with better records and from better conferences.

The Auburn win is more impressive than the losses are bad, but 3 losses is probably too many unless a lot of craziness happens in other places. Hardly "impossible" though.

Prior to last season Hawaii was a bowl invitee for four consecutive seasons. That stretch included bowl wins over BYU and Houston.

Hawaii's all-time winning percentage is .543, ranking it 68th among the 133 current FBS programs.

This season's Hawaii team is still down and struggling to recover from the Todd Graham debacle, but nonetheless has wins against not only 9-3 NMSU but also 8-3 Air Force and 9-3 Albany (currently ranked #12 in the FCS).

We aren't a perennial winner... but we aren't a perennial cellar dweller either. I’ve followed the program for nearly 50 years and mostly it’s been feast or famine without a lot of in-between.

If you believe the CFP Committee, it's Tulane's bid to lose.

Perhaps NMSU should take auburns place in the iron bowl.

The big difference is that Liberty had no stand out wins and struggled against bad teams. At least NMSU beat somebody of note.

The UMass loss is catastrophically bad. That’s a very poor 3-8 team.

The Liberty loss is fine. The Hawaii loss is canceled out by the Auburn win.

Their bid for the NY6 died in week 0. Shame, because at 10-2 they have a better case.

I am a long suffering Aggie fan and grad. Most Aggie fans think that the team would have no business in a NY6 bowl. Too bad the UMass and Hawai'i games were so early in the season while the team was still figuring things out. Still a great season for the Aggies!

What bowl does the CUSA winner get? The NM Bowl?

It's not locked ... it don't know if it would be the "the Bahamas are somewhere down that direction" bowl, but it could be any of the NM Bowl, the Armed Forces Bowl or the New Orleans Bowl.

But I'd think NMSU would be likely to go to the NM Bowl whether they win or lose the CCG, as I think that Liberty would rather go to New Orleans anyway.

Given a choice between Charlotte, Albuquerque, Fort Worth and New Orleans ... who wouldn't prefer NOLA? I am dieting now just in case.

Does Auburn have the most G5 loses among SEC teams?
