From one of the worst teams in FBS to 9-3 and a 31-10 beat down of SEC! SEC!! Auburn

Wow what a turnaround for NMSU. Hope UH can poach their HC this year or next.

Not a good look for Hugh Freeze.

Humiliate? There has to be a harsher word to use. They dominated us in every facet. I don't know what the issue was but all credit to them for coming into our house and handling business.

Maybe they just have Freeze's number. NMSU beat his Liberty team 44-14 or something last season too.

Either way, hats off to them for coming in and winning big.

I'm hoping the Aggies keep the mojo going to their Dec. 1 trip to Lynchburg and beat Liberty when they take their second crack at it.

I know this is from 15 years ago, but it’s good to dust it off now and then.

That means that Coach Kill had taught them the fundamentals of the various kinds of blocks and how and when to use them. Their receivers had a scramble route. That means when their QB was pressured they ran to a predetermined destination regardless of their original route and to the side of the field where their QB was in danger. They completed two big plays on the scramble route changes. Their defense was well schooled and Auburn had been well scouted because they checked off defensively for every alignment adjustment we made. And ultimately that means that their coach schooled Hugh Freeze on all the things that he had not done. Hat's off to them, they soundly kicked Auburn's ass!

I meant the issue with us and why we weren't as prepared. I agree 100% with everything you said. I'm not buying that we overlooked them. This was a total goose egg brother lol.

We all have our turn at the wheel. Last year it was my Aggies, heck last week too, now it's your turn. I just can't wait until Alabama gets their turn. Kill is an excellent coach, I'm sure that a whole lot of interested parties have taken note of what he's done at NMSU.

Indeed.

We're definitely not world beaters and haven't been for a few seasons now, but Freeze definitely has to get it together. We'll see how we do in the bowl game, and next season.

Don’t forget ULM has beaten Nick Saban at Bama already in 2007.

Auburn coach on the hot seat?

So proud of NMSU. I grew up in El Paso where both UTEP and NMSU were perennial underdogs against the rest of the collegiate sporting world. Seeing stuff like this makes me happy and also happy NMSU isn’t on an island anymore from a conference perspective.

Auburn is a mediocre SEC program and has been on decline for years. When was last time they were in the SEC champ game. Medicore power 5 teams lose to good group of 5 teams every year. Only gets worse for Auburn when Texas and Oklahoma join. Can't pitch winning to recruits anymore. Auburn makes big money in SEC, but they are falling farther behind in that league.

Auburn's best win is over a 5-6 California team. This wasn't an upset. Auburn is that bad. Auburn other wins are Samford not Stanford, UMass, Miss State, Vanderbilt and Arkansas. None of their wins are over a bowl eligible team.

Auburn won a National Title 13 years ago, they were in the title game in 2013, and they were screwed out of a BCS title game appearance 20 years ago. They won the SEC all 3 of those years. Do you know how many SEC programs have more than 3 Conference Championships in the past 20 years? 1. Georgia and LSU both have 3 Conference Championships over that same time period, exactly the same as Auburn.

People said this same crap about Tennessee for a while, suddenly they get a good coach and they're back to winning again. If Hooker hadn't gone down last year, they'd probably have made the CFP. Auburn is a good coaching hire away from being right back in the thick of things. Oh, and Saban won't be around much longer, bama's inevitable dropoff after he retires can only help Auburn.
