When I bring unbiased observers to our games, and there's been 4-5 over the past season and a half, their observation/commentary on Gaines is universally "WTF is he doing?" 75% of the time.

Can you go just one game without losing your mind about this guy? We are a better team with him than without, even if he drives us all crazy at times.
Nope.

RE: Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders
It looked to me like Davis was amazed and shocked to not be double teamed every play. Even the announcers said he should expect to be double teamed in every game the rest of the season.
It looked to me like it took him awhile to adjust to that and take over in the paint. Sure is a thing of beauty once he kicks in and finds his shot. Yaxel showed some shiftiness under the basket too.
Also, we need to start cutting to the basket during every double team. If we can get one player to consistently hit layups and maybe another to hit a kick out 3 every once in a while, we may have something.

Eh, if he plays like he did last night, I’m good with that. The only change I’d make is send Butta to the line in crunch time.

I agree with that. Butta is clutch.

So pretty much the same reaction I have even though I've watched him play many times now.

Why Middle insists on going to the under basket camera every play I will never understand.
I did not get a clear view of the last turnover due to that camera angle . The announcer described the play. Just glad it did not work.
I am 90% sure that was not a designed play. Inbounder saw it and probably went on instinct. Not a terrible decision but a ballsy move at that point of the game.

Do you watch our games? Nothing I say or critique about his game is deranged. The proof is in the pudding.
To add to the derangement of the sub 25% 3 point shooting and sub 60% ft shooting, as our "starting point guard," he is averaging more turnovers than assists.
He's never been a good shooter though sub 25 percent both years at LSU last year on solid volume 2.8 per game he shot 34% which could be an outlier for him but it's a wait and see at least for me , I do agree the free throw percentage needs to improve he's 11 of 19 on the year but again it's been 5 games not giving him an excuse but we need more of it on an adequate sample size to fully judge him. This is something I do want to argue about though, what is this infatuation with assist to turnover over ratio? If I'm alone on this hill that's fine with me but why does that matter so much? obviously committing turnovers especially, a lot of them is not a good thing especially when they are cte level bad but how else are great pg's supposed to facilitate at a high level and being a playmaker/pg/passer all involve taking high level risks, like I don't think eric having a 2/4 TOR is a correct indicator for how eg has been as pg for us. Like let's keep this whole thing in perspective this offense beyond the paint is just not good right now and I say right now because I believe in our guys scoring abilities and our coaches to continue to learn how to utilize them correctly and effectively as the season progresses. But Eric is actually creating a ton of advantages for our shooters they just don't hit them, I watched Vasquez get so many clean looks last night that he just couldn't make and Butta just doesn't get as many of those opportunities not sure if AK trusts Butta with high volume looks which is kind of weird but whatever I guess, white has had all his shot attempts self-created and Jd is mainly going to get his entry feeds from any of our guards so he even Jd isn't free assists every night. The bad turnovers are still there of course (needs to continue to evolve as a processor, but as far as being our pg with all of our offensive issues atm I would say he's at a B right now. But sill would love to hear why the heck yall care about t/o ratio so much.

his attitube is 100 % better , he played a lot of minutes and he is very tired at the end of the game ,,,,,he seem too skinny and far to be ready for the league
coleman replace him about the attitude issue ,,,,
BUTTER need more touch and vasquez for some reason go to the basket get fall all the time and rarely go to the FT line ,,,,
UAB is getting better but they are a terrible 3 point shooting team ,,,they will see a lot of zone

Nice to get to 1-1 in Shaver played games liked what I saw from him. Big 4 has to score. Hopefully Yax settles in. Ortiz hasn't scored in like 3-4 games. Dunning should get his mins.
