Right now in the polls:

PLAYOFF POLL: Tulane #24

AP TOP 25:
#17 Tulane
#25 Liberty
#28 Toledo
#29 Fresno
#31 SMU
#31 UNLV
#35 Miami-OH [Lowered it more due to 1 vote]

COACHES POLL:
#17 Tulane
#27 Liberty
#28 SMU
#29 UNLV
#30 Toledo
#35 Fresno [Lowered it a bit due to ~1/3rd the votes]
#35 Troy
#35 Air Force [About the same due to so few votes of these three]
#38 Memphis [Lowered it more due to 1 vote]

You could say Toledo shouldn't have a chance against a 2L MW/AAC team, but I'd disagree. Toledo will have to play soon to be 10W Miami-OH for the MACC game, so saying that they'd have too easy of competition in their champ game won't hold as much water as you'd like. I think it'll depend on how things unfold, altogether still.

I think it would be awesome to see a MAC team get the NY6 bowl this year.

No need for lawsuits i think.

As I said last week, this could become a real distraction for the team.

Which was a bigger win? 2007 over a Michigan team that finished 9-4 or 2023 win over James Madison that might finish 12-1?

Predictably JMU drops their ridiculous threat of litigation:

Of course they won't further pursue legal options, because they no longer have standing - you can't claim victimhood of a hypothetical, now that they won't be passed over for the NY6 bowl spot by the transitional ineligibility, as they are no long the potential top G5 after last week's loss.

Michigan, by far. JMU is a decent team but not a whole lot better than the rest of the SBC. Michigan is the all time wins leader in CFB and went 9-3 in the rest of their games that year, and they had a coach who had won a title there 12 years earlier. Despite that App St loss, they still finished ranked #18 and tied for 2nd that year in the B1G. They beat Notre Dame (38-0!) and had 2 top 10 wins, against PSU and UF.

Looks like JMU is backing off, and will not sue the NCAA in an attempt to be bowl eligible.

Go back in time to the Wednesday after the Michigan game. Find ten casual college football fans. They don’t obsess over every game but they follow it enough to know what’s going on. Ask them who App State beat last week.

Now go find ten casual fans today. Ask them who App State beat last week.

Which group would have more correct answers?

OK, so how about some not so random SEC team, say Texas A&M; or a conference foe such as JMU?

Thats a hideously bad look. Their argument was that the NCAA was preventing them from a bowl. And that hasnt changed.

LIke I said earlier, they had months to take action on this and didnt. There was almost no way a judge was going to rule in their favor in the allotted time that the ruling needed to be handed down. They werent "wronged" within the past few days. The situation which prevented them from being bowl eligible has been known by them for years, and they were denied an appeal on this almost 8 months ago. You dont decide to sue at the 11th hour and 59minutes until the CCG teams are ready to play and say you want your day in court.

Well said. That’s why this charade is and was always laughable.

It almost certainly has. Since they get picked as alternates before any 5-7 schools, the Access Bowl is the one they were locked out of, since they are not taking alternates. With their loss, being locked out of the Access Bowl is now a moot point.
