Defense has been incredible all day. The offense is at fault here.

Two big defensive penalties on the drive before last gave 49ers a chance. That was my reason for my comment. Unnecessary and undisciplined.

Shades of UConn haunting me after Conner fumble. We're clearly better, but letting them hang around.

Not so fast. Padgett reverting to the mean with a bad INT

He had at least one other throw into traffic earlier that should have been picked. Finally caught up with him.

Luckily our defense came to play today.

I'll take Jenkins over Padgett, who looked awful last week, as well (save for a couple throws to Luke). He looks scared in the pocket.

His practice action was limited and he had not been cleared for game action as of Thursday.

Best D all year by far. Needs to flip turnover margin second half, because not going to win this passing. Hope they have a package of plays for Chase and let him run against this defense. This should be the game to use it. Padgett has been a better passer before but doesn’t have it today. The football gods must have decided to give Owl fans a break or Bloom prayed a lot for his job, because being -2 in turnovers, we shouldn’t be ahead.

Nice drive to open 2nd half and a successful 2 point conversion make it 21-0.

1) If Rice finishes 6-6 and wins its bowl, fire or keep Bloomgren?
2) If Rice finishes 6-6 and loses bowl, fire or keep Bloomgren?
3) If Rice finishes 6-6 fire or keep Bloomgren regardless of bowl result?
4) If Rice finishes 5-7 and gets into bowl because of APR, fire or keep Bloomgren?
5) If Rice finishes 5-7 and does not get into bowl, fire or keep Bloomgren?

For the record, I fire him in all of the above, because the totality of his work has convinced me that his approach can't get Rice higher than 6-6 or sustain. I would have fired him after year 3 or 4 or 5 for the same reason.

5-7 and go to a bowl, I fire him and let Julie Griswold coach the bowl, because she did more to get Rice to the bowl than Bloomgren did.

Good Owl defense or bad Charlotte offense?

49ers moving the ball well to start the 2nd half. But drive stalls and 49ers turn it over on downs.

49ers moving the ball well to start the 2nd half.

But their QB out for the remainder of the game with concussion.

Yes, but they were awful last year and steamrolled us, so we at least showed up today. No idea how Charlotte took Memphis to the limit last week.

I don't think so at all. He throws an excellent ball, but our receivers have extremely little separation again in this game.

Hmm. Don’t remember you marking your handle as a registered trademark. We’ll have to let the lawyers figure it out.

Padgett is really bad. Looks like Rice will need another transfer for 2024.
