They played pretty well. Missed too many layups (other than vik who was deadly around the rim) or they win going away. Withstood a couple of runs from a game eastern Washington team.
Refs decided to take over late to inflate the scoring for both teams.
The really fun thing about this team is they have guys that can get to the rim in the half court offense. They aren't dependent on jump shots when they need a bucket.

We have more tools in the tool belt for scoring this season. Higher quality as well...

Yep...points per shot is going to skyrocket from last year for this team. FT Rate is already significantly higher too. Just need Dan to figure things out a bit.
Really interesting Vik's best game of the season comes when he, in his words, isn't playing against smaller guys. Vik does better when he's matched up against guys his size? Interesting.
Overall, pretty pleased with the Eastern Washington performance, even more so than UIC and Detroit. Cincinnati basically out-athleted those two teams but Eastern Washington was really solid and well-coached. They won their conference last year and had a bunch of guys that had clearly played together, giving UC some fits with their length and speed. I wouldn't be surprised if that 100-200 win rises to a top-100 win by the end of the season.
So the fact that Eastern Washington came in, punched up, and UC was able to absorb the blows with DayDay having a tough game and the Eagles shutting down CJ while being able to win by double-digits is very encouraging at this early stage of the season.
It was good to see Day Day distribute the ball a little more with 5 assists. That would be one of my few complaints so far is that DD and JJ may be looking to score a little too much. I'd like to see a few more assists out of them. I think this team will be better in the long run if they play as a unit instead of "me" basketball. They have a lot more scoring options this year not to share the ball.

Bolded, I agree. In that respect it was a great pre-conference opponent in terms of preparation. And I'll keep an eye on that coach as I bet he moves up the ladder if he's successful in the Big Sky this season.
The Bearcats played well. They won, and that's always the most important, but you want to play well and build on playing well. It's better when you can improve upon playing well then when you have to improve upon not playing well. Cincinnati played well.
